Defective Halo 2 Limited Editions

mine and my friends limited edition both have the same scratch.  Seems like a scratch from the factory, not because the discs are stacked on top of each other, although that is stupid nonetheless.

yes it's very stupid the way the game is stacked.
my game had circular scratches on it from the way they stacked it. i mean, if they could afford to make aluminum cases, they could have spent the extra dough on making a double insert dvd case.

Same here.  After reading up a bit I found my xbox has the Thompson DVD drive which apparently is pretty crappy and has trouble reading some discs, but I looked and I have two parallel circular marks on my Limited Edition of Halo 2.  The strange thing is sometimes I was able to load the campaign but after a couple screen loads it would poop out, giving me the dirty or damaged disc error, but I copied it to my xbox and it all works fine from the hard drive...

QUOTE (awsmsteve @ Nov 10 2004, 06:12 AM)
Can anyone help me?  I can't get Halo 2 to work at all?  I can get to the "Press Start" screen every time, but it always freezes right there!  I have a limited edition, so i don't know if it has to do with the scratches on the disc or not, but they're not that bad.  I tried putting the game on the HD, but no luck.  I ALWAYS get the same error.  Any suggestions?

I have the same problem.  I haven't tried playing from the harddrive, but I did try the disk in my friends xbox and it worked no problem.  I also tried my friend's disk in my xbox and saw the error. I tried booting from TSOP as well, and no go.  So, Halo 2 (LE) doesn't like my xbox for some reason.  Any ideas?  I don't really want to have to walk across campus every time I want to play Halo 2.  Thanks.
