« on: October 06, 2004, 09:49:00 AM »

i hope you all wont hate me now but whats so cool about halo 2?

i mean i love halo, but after watching some halo2 videos the graphics dont seem to be much better than halo1..some gameplay changes here and there and new missions with a tuned up halo engine...thats how it looks to me after some of these videos...
can anyone prove me wrong and provide me some cool video material or anything ?

i just didnt get whats so outstandig about this game, or is that just because its halo 2?

I believe the single player will be a great game in and of itself but remember with the new multiplayer addition to the game it will be truely amazing, atleast I hope so.  I will be buying it more for the multiplayer than the single player as I love FPS and xbox live.

One things for sure.  H2 will sell a lot more consoles than GTA will for all the consoles combined.

Easily the most anticipated game to date.

Halo 2, other than being a sequel, isn't based on Halo at all.  It's a totally new engine, built from scratch specifically for this game.  If you enjoyed the first one at all, there's no reason to be asking what's going to be so great about it.

<response to rant>halo2 preorders are completely justified... the eb where i preordered mine said theyve run out of limited edition ones already through preorders... granted the limited will only appeal a few and other stores might not be in the same situation... but my eb is having a midnight opening on the 8th to distribute the preordered copies, they arent going to be selling the game, its only for those who have paid it off... so ill get mine a few hours before the people who wait, so my preorder is justified...  biggrin.gif </response to rant>

*though this is the only game ive ever preordered...

i agree with you roar, they are just cashing in on the game bigtime. They'll already probably sell 5 million copies within the first week or so(if they can get that many out in time) but to also make all this interest on preorders.

ps halo2 will suck big fat donkey nuts

it doesnt cost anything to preorder, nothing whatsoever as the price you put down gets taken off the final price... im really not seeing your point against it... now season tickets and such are a complete different story...

but if youre going to buy the game anyway, how is the store making more money off of preordered games? and youre intrest argument doesnt make much sense...

do you think they have a special 'preorder bank account' that they put the money in? i guess its possible but i think thats a bit rediculous... its much more likely theyd recirculate that money back into the running and improving of the company...

Sorry guys but anytime you preorder anything from a game store it goes back to the store and thats as far as it gets. Worked in a Game crazy and a game stop so trust me.

And  I doubt any one store had more than maybe 15-20 preorders. Not exaclty 30 million in secret MS bank accounts.

i agree with roar. pre orders just arent worth it. if this is going to be the most anticipated game ever then why would they try to short their sales by not having enought copies to sell.  The last game i preordered was MK2 for sega genesis. i thought this game would be so hard to find for weeks after its release, but there were plenty copies around.

CODE
1. Saved stress levels of worrying if the game will be in stock.
2. Saved hassle of having to go to the shops.
3. Saved MONEY because you don't have to waste any on transport (be it petrol or public transport.)

Well, I don't personally see these as advantages to give someone 50 bucks for something that doesn't have a release date, or even giving someone 50 bucks for something I don't get for a month... if these are your/others justifications for pre-order so be it, personally, I don't think they're terribly good ones, but to each their own.

CODE
I like giving the money to support my local game store.

Now that argument has some merrit, though my argument is 100% opposed to it and that is why I don't think people should pre-order, at least someone said it.

CODE
So all your bitching about them gaining interest, who cares it is not like mine would have gained interest.

That's not the point, your 10 bucks as an individual is not the point, the point is hundreds of thousands of peoples 10 dollars IS the point, it is large companies continuing to take advantage of the consumers, plain and simple.

CODE
It is actually stimulating the economy.

Now this point I would argue, 10 bucks here and there, ok, 750 thousand here and theres, but over the course of 1+ years does NOT stimulate an economy... you want economy stumulation... try 1 million copies sold in one day with all that money paid up front... that my friend would of been stimulation!

Edit: I really have to stop hitting 'code' instead of 'quote', I'm a freak! Sorry!

QUOTE (zot23 @ Oct 8 2004, 01:00 PM)
But, for preorders there is one huge advantage you are missing that, IMHO, is easily worth $5.  Most games release on Tuesday, but almost every preorder I've had in the last year has been available for pickup on the Monday before.  Walk ins still must wait for Tuesday to buy, but I'm playing the night before.  For most games this isn't a big deal, but for Halo 2?  I want to be playing that bad boy ASAP, even one night is worth and early $5.

That would certainly be worth $5 bucks to me, though I am not sure that is offical store policy and something you're probably fortunate that your store is doing for you, I remember when Red Alert came out that one of local eb's let my friends get theirs a day early, but some other friends at another eb were out of luck... naturally I had to wait till the next day to get mine but Red Alert sucked anyway... damn 'engineer shuffle'!

The gamespot where I pre-ordered my game (and other stores that I've heard of) are going to start selling the game on 11/9 right at midnight.

What I was told over the phone is that they are going to start selling at midnight and then close the store when/if the line dies down.  Then they will re-open at their normal time.

I plan on coming home from work on the 8th and catching a little snooze.  Then I'm going to have a late dinner and a drinky or two at Chili's.  Then I'm going to go wait it out in the midnight line.  Yeah, pathetic but it may be interesting to do.
