Halo 2 Vs Half Life 2

QUOTE
This is an Xbox forum with many many Halo fanboys, what else would you expect? Half of them never played Half Life to a good extent, let along Counter Strike.

Thank you for the madeup statistics Ms. Cleo.

QUOTE
It made it an incredibly unbelievable game. (Well more engine)
Ask the 10 million that own it.

My point exactly, it was the engine.  If someone took the HL engine and created a new mod a la CS, then it really isn't HL anymore.  So how could this be listed as a reason for what made HL great, it's more a reason of what made the engine great (which in reality was a modified Quake engine) or a reason why developers should add these tools for gamers to create there own game.

QUOTE
And Halo is a couple years old, point being? Age doesn't make a fun game not so fun.

Yes it does. ie Tomb Raider.  The game was great the 1st time I've played it.  But going back to it is a pain mainly because of it's clunky 3d controls.  The same controls that were considered acceptable in the hay day are considered horrible now because of other games that have perfected the 3d controls.

QUOTE
Old, yes. Boring? Ask all the people who sitll play it. Slow? It's much faster paced then Halo if that is what your comparing speed to.

If you think HL was faster paced than Halo, you either havent thoroughly played HL or Halo, or you're just clueless.

QUOTE
It's also 5 years old. Can you create a whole new game with Halo, what about add-ons?

Again, what does this have to do with HL being better than Halo.  This only compliments the engine or the developers who left the tools for you to create new games.

QUOTE
Even on legendary Halo was just not very hard, it just took more time to beat.(I always played it co-op so might be hard single player)

rotfl.gif If you only played Legendary on co-op you shouldn't even be making any comments about the difficulty.  And the fact that you took longer to beat it even when playing it in co-op is sad (proves that the game is harder than you think and you definitely will think it's hard playing on your own).

QUOTE
The story line - most games didn't really have a story as in depth. The ability to modify it and create new maps/games out of it. For two.

So basically it revolutionized story telling in games, not the FPS genre.

QUOTE
As for the 8 million figure, doing a quick google there was some posts with over 8 million. I believe IGN or Gamespot had an article about HL2 and had a quote straight from the guy at valvue with 10 million sold. I can't check up because they are both blocked at my work.

Obviously it would sell alot since it's a pretty good game that has been released far longer than Halo.  So what point are you trying to make by throwing sales figures around?

I agree with this whole post. Cept the quotes.  dry.gif . Funny realy. theres about 2 people arguing y half-life 2 is better but quite a few arguing 4 halo2. Also the results so far show a few more for halo as well.  tongue.gif

QUOTE
It's not necessarily HL anymore, but you get those addons when you buy HL.(For download anyway)

And your point being what?!?  Just because I buy a burger and I get Fries with it, I don't call my fries a burger.

QUOTE
That is you. Alot of people still enjoy old games. Look at all the people with emulators on their Xbox. I thought Tomb Raider 1 sucked because of the controls back then.

Yes some games survive the test of time while some doesn't ie. Tomb Raider.  (Don't worry Junior, you'll see the point I'm making someday)

QUOTE
I admit it has been a very long time since I have played the original HL campaign. My argument was more about multiplayer Halo being sluggish. The only multiplayer HL I have played lately is CS, and that is certainly more face paced then Halo.

How conveniant, that you switched your topic.  You said your argument was aimed toward multiplayer gameplay, but somehow you left that important word out. Riiiiiiiiight laugh.gif .

Unfortunately Master Chief doesn't have the luxury to run accross a map with superhuman speeds because of his heavy metal suit (I should know because I am him cool.gif ).  But it brings a whole new welcomed sense of strategy to the table.  And by no means does it spoil the multiplayer experience (especially with 4+ pro players).

QUOTE
I have played Halo on other then legendary, my point was it was still a very easy game. The only thing legendary did was make it take a little longer to beat, more things to kill.
You beat legendary as fast as you beat easy? That is pretty amazing.

Like I said before, you shouldn't be making comments about the difficulty considering you played Legendary on co-op (which in a way is a form of cheating because of the respawn).

BTW: Halo has the same amount of enemies on all difficulties (anyone who have played through all the difficulties would know this, rather than guessing like you're doing with all your replies).

No I didn't beat Legendary as fast as I beat easy.  And considering I didn't use co-op.

I don't see why you chose to go off in a rant about Halo's difficulty when HL's was a lot easier!

QUOTE
That was just one point. And before HL the stories in FPS were not really stories. HL was the first to have a really indepth and good story.

biggrin.gif Yes my point exactly, it revolutionized storytelling.  You made a complete circle, good job!

QUOTE
Like I've said many times, this is an XBOX forum, there is definately going to be mainly Xbox fans here. Goto a PC gamers forum, or a CS forum and see if you get the same results.

Or there is a possibility that people actually LIKE Halo more than HL.  This is an Xbox modding forum.  Most ppl need PCs to come here and in some cases mod there xboxes with it.  And just because you think it's mainly xbox fans here, doesn't mean that ppl haven't played or don't like games from other platforms.

QUOTE
Truthful fact? Biased poll maybe.

And I say that's a biased comment.  Just because the poll isn't going in your favor doesn't make it as biased as your comment.

QUOTE
Anyway, I think this will be my last post on this topic it really isn't going anywhere. Agree to disagree, eh? Besides, I brought my Xbox in to work tonight and plan on spending my time playing it.~

Thank G0d!!!  Your weak arguments bore me.  You'd just make yourself look like more of an !d10t if you posted again.

huh.gif  *sigh* that is silly fighting over two games that are going to be all good anyway.
but yeah the poll says halo 2, so halo 2 is more wanted by the users of this forum.
THAT IS ALL

i've played them both, and i enjoy both, but HALO is harder. simple as that.

but i do think that there is more discussion about HALO 2...but i could be wrong, because i'm not GOD.

but yeah, HALO 2 all the way  biggrin.gif

btw..for those people that just quoted every1 else and reiticuled their opinion, like seriously, how long did it take u to write that, don't u have anything else better to do? cause seriously man/girl, what a waste of time...
