What makes you think no one will be playing anything else? That is just ignorant and an empty argument.

Yeah i know,  it was just a sarcastic thought.

QUOTE
Why do you say this? I could call you a Halo fanboy

You should,   because i am as you proly figured out by now.

QUOTE
Why, hows that! I agree!

Huh, wa,  something fishy is going on here.

QUOTE
It wasn't even going to come out on Xbox until MS decided it wanted Bungie. Was a very good move. If MS hadn't stepped in, I doubt it would have come out on Xbox. And I'd bet money it would be fairly unpopular today, a couple years later.

This is true,  as there are not alot of mac gamers.  Mac = shaft for games Alot of games arnt compatible.

You guys, other then sounding alot like idiots and having excellent grammar, are arguing about two games that are fairly different?

Is this a question?

The first wasn't meant to be question, the second was more of a statement in the form of a question. As in, "You guys are arguing about games that have a long time between release dates?" The grammar was more towards the people who can't seem to spell, "You, You're, and Too." For the record if you look at the time I posted that was while I was at work, I had been there for over 15 hours already. tongue.gif

QUOTE
love Halo  and i know it isnt perfect  . But i do know one thing:

Its sequel will be better than half life's sequel (meaning Half Life 2).

How do you know this? You don't. You can only guess.

QUOTE
Only, more people will like Halo 2 because it will be alot better.

Want to bet on which has a bigger player base?

QUOTE
Any gamer knows this isnt true. Wait..... is this another question? Now im really confused

See above, more sarcasm towards the person who made that statement.

QUOTE
Yup, nothing compares, i think.

Our opinions differ here. While I thought Halo was quite fun Multiplayer on the campaign, I haven't played it near as much as other games. I also didn't care for the Multiplayer other then more people having Xbox's then PC's and playing it in a LAN setting. I think the main draw to the campaign to me was the multiplayer aspect, which is also why I liked Serious Sam alot.(Great game by the way, just didn't care for split screen on xbox, what it does.)

QUOTE
AKA: PC Fan Boy

Why do you say this? I could call you a Halo fanboy, but I'm not, and I didn't. If I'm anything, I'm definately an Xbox fanboy. I'm always posting positive things on the Xbox on games.slashdot.org. I also own 3 Xbox's, which is more then any system. I don't even play my GC or PS2, and only play my PC for Tactical Ops mainly now. I play my Xbox more then anything, so a PC fanboy?

QUOTE
That Half Life 2 will be much better than Halo 2.

Why, hows that! I agree!   wink.gif  People can argue until they are red in the face and it won't matter. Arguing about it will go nowhere really. The reason I think Half Life 2 will be better? I know they support the MOD community a ton. I really liked Half Life 1, and believe people will be able to do more with HL2 to keep the game alive longer. I certainly will play Halo 2, it could be better but I don't think it will. Halo did do great on Xbox and I think it's doing okay on PC, but nothing can touch the userbase Half Life still has. (Mainly CS though)

QUOTE
You want to know why Halo 2 is being pushed back so much, well, because once it comes out, being xbox live and all, no one will be playing anything else.

I believe your wrong here. As far as I know it isn't being pushed back, it was never announced to be released early. It was just rumors. What makes you think no one will be playing anything else? That is just ignorant and an empty argument.

QUOTE
came up with this thaught by looking at who is playing what on gamespy, oh looky here, 1 person is playing Midtown Madness 3, yeah hes having alot of fun. And evryone else is playing Halo. Literally.

You think there might be another reason for this? Perhaps because the people with Midtown Madness 3 are playing on Xbox Live? Well let's see, how many people are playing Halo on Gamespy? Let me just check and see how many are playing Wolfenstein on Xbox Live...Doesn't prove a thing. Tunneling is the only place people can play Halo online, of course they are going to be playing it.

QUOTE
True, Halo was just alot better though.

How about instead of just stating something that is quite arguable, you back it up? Let us see, Halo sold, what 3 million? Half life has more active players then that, so obviously it's not better. Right?

QUOTE
Dude, being a pc fan boy, you should know that Halo was suposed to come out on pc first before xbox was even in development. It would have been just a good of a game if it would have only came out on PC, if not better (only graphicly).

It was supposed to come out on Mac first. It would have been the same good game, yes. It wouldn't have been as 'revolutionary' simply for that reason. It would have only been another good FPS on PC, on Xbox it WAS the FPS. Hell, it's probably the best on any console in my opinion....

QUOTE
It was made an xbox exclusive title so people would buy an xbox.

It wasn't even going to come out on Xbox until MS decided it wanted Bungie. Was a very good move. If MS hadn't stepped in, I doubt it would have come out on Xbox. And I'd bet money it would be fairly unpopular today, a couple years later.

Why are you accusing ppl of guessing Halo2 will be better, when you did the same thing by guessing HL2 will be better rolleyes.gif .   This is hipocrisy at its best.

************************************************************************

Bigger player base does not always mean it is a better game.

-It could mean that the game was either out longer (ie. HL1 devoted followers).
-More ppl own PCs.

************************************************************************

How could you compare the fact of how much games Halo sold to HL.  Do you have any idea how long HL has been in the market?!?!

************************************************************************

I for a fact know Halo2 will be better because I AM MASTER CHIEF, so stop these dumb posts before I throw a sticky grenade at you  muhaha.gif rotfl.gif .

4 or 5 years its been now or something, hasent it? How can people compare the ancient game hl to the new halo with better grafix better gameplay better levels... the list goes on. I C how you can compare hl2 with halo2 tho. I meen, they both have kickass gameplay, kickass grafix, kickass movie trailers (I no this meens nothin but i saw both the trailers and they looked kool) Kickass Weapons and kickass ai and kickass developers. I will probably prefer halo2 still tho but i will buy both.

From gamespy:

But the biggest problem with the graphics -- and the entire game, for that matter -- is that you'll need a pretty powerful PC to run Halo at a steady clip. My main machine is a P2.54 GHz P4 with a GeForce 4 and 1GB of RAM, ......But even at 800x600 with some of the details turned down, Halo still feels sluggish -- disappointing for a game that looked fantastic and ran fairly well on the Xbox two years ago.

This guy must have his turbo button pressed, or the Halo PC port is the worst code ever written.  Never played Halo on PC so I couldn't tell you.  But I could play 800X600 FPS games on my 450mhz celeron with Intel I740.  Don't know what to say about this other than it is a sad quote, and the guy must have his head up his ass.  Then again, Halo feels sluggish on the xbox too..... maybe he's used to playing real (faster) FPS games on PC?  Like I said, U2TA runs on my machine fine at 1600X1200X16, over 45fps.

Fact remains, inorder to get the same level of graphics (all effects turned on) and speed as halo for the xbox, you'll have to have a pretty damn fast computer with a good graphic card; atleast a pentium4 2.5ghz gforce4 with 512mb of ddr ram.  And that is at the low res of 640 x 480. sad.gif

Halo will still be playable on a lower end pc; 1.6ghz geforce3/4, but it won't look know where has good, or play as good as what halo does on the xbox.

We are talking about halo here, not the first doom.  I don't know what your point is here??

Ok, here are two other quotes from two other highly accredited game sites:
Gamespot:
QUOTE
But the only real issue with Halo's visuals is that they won't necessarily run smoothly at a high resolution, even on a high-end PC. You can tone down various aspects of the visuals to up the frame rate....

ign:
QUOTE
And you may need to lower the graphics settings on the PC version to get a sufficient framerate. While the Xbox version had the occasional stutter here and there, the PC version seems much less reliable. We've tested the game on a range of systems. The one I've used the most is a 2.4GHz machine with a GeForce 4. At that level, I was able to play with all the details up at 800x600 fairly smoothly. I can get comparable performance at slightly higher resolutions by dropping the texture detail and shadows.

QUOTE

Sluggish?  Real equals faster?  While i'll definitely admit that halo has a slower pace than most other fps, it is anything but sluggish or unreal.  Halos pace is a hell of a lot more realistic than say quake, in where your player books (hovers) around the stage in such an UNrealistic, unnatural speed looking anything but "real".  Halos also has much better animation than any other fps.  For example, when you turn around, master chiefs torso turns first then he rotates his feet around.  On all other shooters your guy just hovers and rotates without moving his legs.  Now that's realistic!  Halo requires the most skills and tactics of any fps (with exception to tom clancies games) instead of just a frag fest like quake and unreal.  But if that is your cup of tea, frag on!

Console games don't need too high requirements....The PS2 EE is only 300Mhz and it can run Doom III or Star Wars: Knights NO PROBLEM cuz of the RISC. Now if you want to play Doom III smooth on PC you need a P4 2.4Ghz cuz WinXP sucks almost 30% of the CPU power not to mention other appz so make it 55%.

and Xbox has a GeForce 3.5 not 3.

I voted for halo 2 what a stupid question you can't get your teammates on a vechile and blast aliens and you can't be a pilot and you can't blow stuff in Half Life. Half Life is just one of those too realistic only for military critics. I bet 60% of the game in HL is stealth - BORING!

Doom 3 on ps2? Smooth?

Uh.. I don't remember sony sticking pixel shading into that acient chip...

..and I don't think that the ps2 could ever make doom 3 run/look the way it does on the computer.. Hell, even if they programmed it from scratch..

rotfl.gif this post is the shit!  Wow i cant believe that there are so many halo 2 fans in around here.  Really, i dont see the big deal of the game at all.  I consider halo to be one the most overrated game of the decade (wont give reason, but if asked, i'll give it).  I admit that i enjoyed playing it, but its nowhere as refined and as good as half life.  So my vote goes to half life 2 cuz i expect something great out of it (MODS!!  biggrin.gif ).

Yeah wot evah. Half-life is old and boring all the expansion packs were practically the same as the origional. How is HALO Game of the year OVERATED?!? I dont care if your vote goes to hl2 go ahead, throw your vote away!

Could say Halo is old and boring now. And Halo game of the year? Halo can't hold a candle to the awards HL has won. Anyway, have you played the MOD's for HL? They are nothing like the first. If your going to argue that half life sucks atleast make a decent argument.

If your gonna moan about my arguements explaining the truth about the subject then read my previous posts throughout this poll. They just prove my point even more that Halo2 Is better than half life 2 Halo one will prolly b better than hl2!  laugh.gif . Half life is what its title sez it is. It is half the game that Halo is. If your gonna argue, at least argue with your facts straight. If Half-life has more awards than halo it is only because hl has been around for longer to get more awards. How old is half-life now? 5 years about, now its getting on to isnt it? Thats half a decade! Stop living in the past man! Climb out from under your rock and experience the mighty game that is called [Halo Also another point of your post.

If HL has to depend on it's mods to make it an exceptional game, then maybe HL wasn't such a good game!?!

Everyone keeps mentioning the mods as a reason for what makes HL great.
