QUOTE (xboxfrizzy @ Sep 25 2003, 03:44 PM)
Well i just got done reading this whole topic and i noticed that there was only one reply that was actually worth reading:

QUOTE
The only reason theres so many on here for hl2, is becuz people who like long slow boring games (like hl), write long slow boring answers.  peopl who like quick fast thrilling games, have more fun things to do, like play halo, so they just quickly vote, then get back to playing the game of the year.
(I know hl also got a game of the year award aswell, so theres no point pointing that out to me.  )

Also the most truthfull of replys.

It was also followed by the stats which clearly shows that people around here know whats up:

QUOTE
Halo 2 [ 64 ]   [72.73%]
Half Life 2 [ 24 ]   [27.27%]

Simply stated...

The majority of people enjoy the better games.

My personal thaught:

Half Life 2 wont even deserve to lick the sack off of Halo 2.

Thx  biggrin.gif  Half-life 2 will be good i reckon, but halo 2 will
QUOTE
*ahem*
Get in the warthog and crush hl2s head like a tomato can.

The only screenshots I've seen of Halo 2 are cutscenes.  Wow.  Big whoopty.  Half-life, and more so Doom 3 will be doing what the Halo 2 cutscenes are doing in REAL TIME.  That alone will put Halo 2 far behind the state of the art in terms of graphics performance.

Gameplay on co-op Halo 2 might be more fun though, we'll see.  Hopefully Bungie can write a better story this time around because Halo 1 was godawfully boring to play in single player mode.

I'm not even bashing, it's just the way it is.  Take a look at the Halo 2 movie at IGN, and then install the Doom 3 alpha leak (on a capable PC).  Looks pretty damn similar to me except the Halo 2 movie is showing cutscenes and not a single frame of the actual gameplay mode.

well, i remember seeing gameplay scene video from e3 for both games, half life 2 looks much better. It just does. But halo2 probably has a more intense and realistic storyline.

I play both pc games and xbox. But i favor the xbox more lately, because I dont have to upgrade as often. I have a 1 ghz p3. not the fastest, but it plays counterstrike just fine.

I would rather sink time into half life 2 on the xbox, than halo2, but who cares?!?!?! I will still also play halo2.

I will end up getting both.

laugh.gif (but ignoring gameplay completely).

Falser:
Sinse you have obviously been living under a rock or just simply an idiot, there have been game play footage of Halo 2 shown in high res (8 or 10 min) where MC is fighting the Covenants on Earth and it's simply amazing.  As far as cutscenes go in Halo 2, they are all made using the Halo 2 in game engine.

Yeah I was giggling to myself with all the 'slow, boring' posts regarding HL.  These people have not seen a real FPS shooter like quake or halflife.  The thing that was the hardest to adapt to playing halo was how slow master chief is.  I think he must be about 100 years old under that helmet, must be using an invisible walker.  I kept looking for a 'run' button.  The only game that was slower that I can remember playing is the 007 for N64.  Slow and boring, they obviously haven't played it like you said.

You are right on the money man. Halo sticks out a bit in my mind only because I played it recently. But the action in Halflife is much more intense than in Halo. And I HATE PLAYING HALO mulitplayer, because you're right, he moves like a slug covered in molasses walking backwards.

I mean, its tough to compare both of these games because of the different platforms, and some changes are made to slow xbox games down to make gameplay still easy with a pad, but the thing is, Halflife 2 has a better physics engine, and is more "realistic" in the sense of how gameplay will work. They are both going to be excellent games, but its silly to think that halo2 will be better than what a team who has been working for years to accomplish will bring forth in the form of halflife 2.

QUOTE (Sykotek @ Sep 26 2003, 03:13 PM)
What he meant is that the game HL2 has been in development over twice as long as Halo2.  And Valve does have more under their belt than the one hit wonder of Halo.  Valve and Bungie will both be big players in the years to come, that's for sure.

Did you say uber?  Oh my.  I think I heard Drew Barrymore say that once about her grilled cheese being uber uber gooey on Howard Stern.  Dork.

Have you ever played multiplayer half life?  There are laser trip mines, remote detonators, the weapons are far superior.  And there are hundreds of levels available.  Hundreds.  What does halo have, 10?   Crawl out from under your rock and experience what the genre has to offer before you spout off about something you know nothing about.

Uber.

Later,

Yes, i have played hl. and q3arena, and q3 team arena and all the unreals. But none compare to halo. And wots all this about hl's story line being better than halos? Wow in hl an experiment goes wrong and you fight the aliens for the rest of the game b4 just having to choose beetween two jobs at the end. Halos story line is much better, if you bother to watch the cutscenes or read the books. Hl multiplayer sucks compared to halo over system link or xb connect. All you people voting for hl2, go away and never return  dry.gif  .  This is an xbox site, not a pc fan boy site. You mite aswell start sayin how good ps2 is if yur gonna dis halo and the xbox. The xbox revolutionized console gaming above that of gamecube and ps2 and pc gaming. (Although i did enjoy the old megadrive i had)  biggrin.gif
(And hl dosent have hundreds of levels, it has about eleven. unless you download some. And the downloaded ones are crap.
