to make syphon fit on 1gb, have to delete the MULTI and BONUS folders, and pretty much have an empty memory card, leaves you wil about 17mb free, tested training levels, and it hasnt locked up, so should be good to go, game seems awesome too.

was going to link to the kit that makes it work, however it contains sony files... should be pretty easy to find though.

You can also get rid of the GAMESHARE folder for a little more space.
