Likely just a pure rumor or grapevine effect - original comment was probably "Halo 2 is going to be Live enabled so no one with a non-stock bios will be able to play online".

Like all things, wait and see.

This is currently speculation as there is currently no evidence to support this....

Well it could be true, as it was with Red Faction 2 and a few others which first needed patched to play on Evox BIOS', or else you had to update to the X2 BIOS.
Someone will no doubt find a work around (there's always a work around), as they did with the XBOX in the 1st place. Infact before XBOX came out M$ was boasting that it would not be hacked for a good year at least, and it ended up getting hacked within weeks.

Lastly, assuming, M$ hired some quality emplyees this time around, and it does become hard to hack, then simply pull out your original hard drive (hope you kept it around), and invest in an XDeck, switch to the old drive, turn off MOD, and boot up. Though I doubt things will go that far.

i think it'll be a good thing for halo 2 to be non-playable with mods on.
EVERYONE should buy this game because it's gonna be the greatest game
on earth. this is THE reason to get xbox live.

This has got to be complete BS. Even if there was a protection like this, all you would have to do is switch off your modchip, and then run it. No big deal.
