OK. i knowi can enable Acoustic Management with some tools floating around.
Personnally i find the Drive Feature Tool from IBM/Hitachi the best because it works on about every drive and even on a maxtor sata hdd which even Maxtor's own tool didn't do.
Anyway, i have an Satellite reciever which runs on linux and by adding a command in the startup script it enables Acoustic Management for the hdd.
It's something like:
| CODE |
# sleep after 10min hdparm -S 120 /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc
# accustic management hdparm -M 128 /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc

I have the same hdd's in my satellite tuner and in my xbox but the latter is definatly making a whole lot more noise.
Is there an option to use code like the above or do i need to remove the xbox hdd and use a tool to quit it down?
