Making something like a video playback or broadband adapter an optional component is one thing. They serve tasks auxiliary to the function of the actual game, but as soon as you start having varying levels of processor, or ram capabilities between systems... that's it, I'm out.
well IF things work out the way i just described, which i highly doubt they will, then it wouldnt be a necessity but instead a benefit to being able to play the games at the highest setting. if this comes true then you would still be able to play games on a launch system but not at the same level of detail as those who have upgraded their system.
i do get your point though, this whole theory would void one of the benefits of a console, convienence and the fact that you are playing the exact same game as anyone else.
