Fan Question
« on: December 07, 2005, 08:53:00 PM »

alright, im not too into comp games or nothing, no water cooling bullshit, system optimization, that kind of thing... but my graphics cards stock fan started making noise so i decided to replace it... ati radeon 9800 se+ upgraded with an arctic cooling silencer... set it all up, turned on the sys and the fan blew...

nothing more than plug-n-play so what might have gone wrong? faulty fan? anything else?

Bad fan, an electrical short, or a jammed motor. They are the first things to look at, but without actualy seeing it, its hard to say.

When you say the fan blew, what happened, you see sparks or hear a pop?

Well something has shorted (or component failure) if your saw smoke, so it was an electrical fault, take it back and get a refund/exchange.

Tell them you followed the instructions to the letter, even if they think you installed it wrong, they can't prove it and its their responsibility to replace it.
