Swapping Gun Sounds With Existing Gun Sounds
« on: September 07, 2004, 11:11:00 PM »

okay...there's a little thing in the game that annoys me for both PC and Xbox versions.  The M16 sounds correct however, the M4 does not sound like an M16 which really...the M4 is a compact version of the M16 rifle.  They are both 5.56mm guns but in the Game the M4 sounds like a freaking cannon.  I dissected the definition file that corresponds to the M4.snb file (which all sound files have a corresponding def file right next to them) and found that, they are using the M14 sound for it which an M14 is an older style 7.62x39mm carbine.  Why they did this I don't know as, Ubi has always been about realism.  Anyway I made a copy of the M16A2.snb file and renamed it to the name of  the M4 audio file then last, I opened up the other sound definition file for the M4 and renamed everything that was tagged M14.wav, M14_2x.wav etc...to M16A2.wav, M16_2x.wav etc...
and all I ended up with was freezing of the game.  Any ideas? was there one more change I should have made elsewhere?
