Try to get an older clone cd from oldversion.com... I've heard the ones that aren't by Elaborate Bytes got kind of crappy.

I have used Clone CD for the past 5 years to backup all of my games and I have never had a problem.

If you haven't already check out gamecopyworld.com
Some newer games can be a pain in the ass to make backups.  Older games like Red Alert 2 should be easy though.
I used to use a program that worked in conjunction with CloneCD called ClonyXXL. It detected the protection and setup CloneCD accordingly. I haven't used it in awhile so I'm not sure how up to date it is.

I remember that ra2 used a modified version of safedisc it always was a bitch to copy not sure if things are any easier now.

You know this game is a budget title now? you can buy it for about £5 in UK it's not worth the trouble of making a copy at that price, especially when you consider you will likely burn a couple of coasters before you copy it successfully.
