I believe that X, Y and Z are the cache folders on the XBox, so they are generally written over whenever you play other games

Have a look at this http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=411394 to see how to fix this, but you need to copy the game into another directory (like f:)

Thanks for the heads up, i'll give the hex editing a go and see what happens but i dont know if it will work because i am using a PAL version of the original Morrowind.

It would be cool though to be able to play the game without having to worry about setting up the cache system every couple of games, the silly part is that i only played Chaos Theory, i did'nt play anything else and the cach was wiped.

Nah mate, no luck.  It has not worked, i just spent about 30 mins setting it all up and playtesting it all and nada.  When i get back from work or just before i go to work i'm gonna have to try and re-edit the xbe file using F as a replacement for D.

I feel like a bit of an idiot to be honest because the one thing that i did not realise before was that d:\ is my dvd roms drive letter, i hope that the hex editing is flexible because it looks like i'm gonna have to change the variable from D:\ to F:\ (default hd letter) and see if that works, the other possibility is that i accidentaly skipped one of the Z alterations that was mentioned.

This may sound like a silly question but in the tutorial it mentions that you must save the file and not save as, why is this?  I beleived that save as permenently replaces the file with the modifications that you have made?

Actually, it should be d:\. When the game gets to that point, it tells it to load the stuff from the game Data Files, which happens to reside on the F:\ drive. I know it logically doesn't make much sense, but if you put F:\ there, you'll have to include the path info somehow (not sure if that's really possible) because when it reads D:\, it look sin the game directory and needs to find Data Files at the root of that directory. Since it you want pointing it to F:\, you'll probably need to find out if the XBE has a checksum, and how to calculate it.

If thats the case then it does'nt look like the hex editing will work, i tried it last night and nothing happened.  Unless i edited the wrong values (which i dont think i did) then the only other thing that i can think of is that the hex editing works differently on different versions of the game, kind of like the hex editing to use any save game mentioned somewhere else in this forum, i'm sure i am editing it right but i have had no luck with any of the hex editing methods mentioned.  Ahhh well, atleast the old ways are tried and tested and garaunteed to work.
