Better Bodies Help
« on: June 21, 2005, 09:04:00 PM »

The only real difference that I see is that the game was installed on my xbox in f:/games/morrowind

Altho i dont see why this would be a problem, but it might be...

Any ideas?

Dont covert to ESM or anything sigh.... the procces is so simple

Get your morrowind.esm from your xbox ok

Get better bodies if its .esp or .esm LEAVE IT!!!

open it with tesdk and remove ALL depedncies

then add the dependcy on morrowind.esm from your xbox

then get the file with the most free's and rename it to the orginal filename (just take the frees off) and ur ready to go

You don't HAVE to hex edit it, but if not, then you need to add the files to z:\, which is a temp cache directory that can be over-written by another game. Hexing the xbe allows you to pu the files in \morrowind\datafiles\, and not worry about it again.

This is a classic example of a tech (me) being a retard about it.
I have been sticking the files in my f: because i figured that there was only 1 data files dir, which was located in the main directory, which is the directory morrowind was burnt to (ive modded on the pc as well, i guess its a little different) I didnt figure that the game would have to load the files from the hard drive cache.

I'll admit when im a dumb-a$$ about it lol.
I think i was being overly-techie about it.

I'll try my theory at home. I might hex edit the file regardless. Only 1 question about editing the hex file...
In the guide, it says change the z:\ to  d (i assume that it is d:\ fully)
NOW my morrowind is burnt to my harddrive in my F: partition. Should I change the z to f in that scenario?

And does the rest of the string look like z:\data files, cause if so, ill have to create a folder on my F: for data files and stick them in there.

Thanks in advance

YES IT WORKED!
Thank you SOO much.

One thing about the guide though...
"Step 12. You will now see a Z highlighted in blue on the right side of the hex editor
Step 13. Press the d on your keyboard you will see the Z change to a D

Step 14. Press the F3 key and it will come to another Z highlighted in blue, ignore that one and press F3 again

Step 15. You will now see a Z highlighted in blue on the right side of the hex editor
Step 16. Press the d on your keyboard you will see the Z change to a D

Step 17. Press the F3 key and it will come to another Z highlighted in blue, ignore that one and press F3 again

Step 18. You will now see a Z highlighted in blue on the right side of the hex editor
Step 19. Press the d on your keyboard you will see the Z change to a D

Step 20. Press the F3 key again

Step 21. You will now see a Z highlighted in blue on the right side of the hex editor
Step 22. Press the d on your keyboard you will see the Z change to a D

Step 23. You will now see a Z highlighted in blue on the right side of the hex editor
Step 24. Press the d on your keyboard you will see the Z change to a D

Step 25. Click file, highlight Save (NOT SAVE AS)
Step 26. Close the hex editor and now your all set
"

Inbetween step 22 and 23, you need to hit the f3 key again.
Other then that, YES! After I graduate tonight, I'm going to come home and mod the crap out of my game.
Thank you again!

Good to hear it works now raavekx.

Now I don't mean to rain on your parade...but just remember a couple of things.

First, when you are running too many mods at the same time, you will have problems with dialogue.  Some of which include not being able to leave the room when you first speak with the Imperial Captain.  So be aware of this.

I suggest that you (if you're starting a new game) start with 2 or 3 mods.  Then, when you've reached the critical points, then load up most (or all) the mods you want to use.  Always keep in mind that the xbox's limited memory may still cause a couple of DDE's every now and then.  In this case, it has nothing to do with your system nor is it the mod (unless it's some kind of 150+ Meg total conversion)

Other than that...have fun!

Oh, and congratulations on your graduation!
