Need Help Installing New Faces...
« on: June 05, 2005, 05:38:00 PM »

For some reason I can't edit my post.  grr.gif

So just ignore the whole thing about a big exclamation point for a head.  I know why it does that.

I just can't figure out how to fix the rainbow face and hair.  I was searching around and I found info on the Xbox not being able to read .NFO & .DDS files but I just can't figure out how to convert it to something it can read.  I found some kind of tool that converts it; TESRenamer or something like that, but I couldn't figure out how to work it.

I think I've discovered the problem behind this "rainbow effect".

The problem has to be with the textures.  The actual shape of the hair/face shows up, it just looks like a rainbow.  So now I just gotta figure out why the textures are not being recoginzed.

The textures never come in a subfolder like the meshes, but even when I put them in a subfolder it still doesn't work.  I don't know, its quite frustrating.

I even got some new argonian faces to work but the horns didn't show up for some reason.  I'm gonna go back and check it out and see why the faces showed up.

The Better Heads mod doesn't work properly on the X-Box.
Unfortunately there is nothing that I have found that can fix the problem.
But by all means keep looking for a solution..There may be one out there. I know I didn't come across a solution, but then again I didn't really look hard enough either...Good luck

I think the problem has to do with the esp, but I'm not to sure what the esp does exactly so I'm just guessing.

If you notice on Better Heads, both the meshes and textures are in subfolders.  When I removed them from the "BH" folder and just transferred all the loose files in the textures directory, I got a whole heap of wierd things.  Grifter was right, the better heads mod is not very compatible with our xbox.  Even if you get it to work, you'll still get a lot of DDE's especially when you go to a place where a lot of NPC's are walking around (Ebonheart and Ald ruhn)

Here is my advice to you second:
If you get the game to load with a mod active, and everything is working fine and out of no where you get a DDE...Then that usually means that the x-box can't handle the mod (I usually try the mod 2 times before giving up on it just to be sure)...This has held true with every single mod I've had that happen with.

Also I have to ask:
When you hex edited the Morrowind.xbe file, did you edit the following:
the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th Z
If not you may want to.
I know my tutorial only has 4 Z's mentioned to edit but there are actually 5 that need to be edited
That way if what I described above still happens, then you'll know 100% for sure that the mod can't work on the x-box.
Because from what I understand, the 6th Z effects the textures.

Try that and let us know what happens

Did you edit 4 or 5 z:\ entries? I've got the 4 edited, but haven't loaded better heads yet. I'm running Better Bodies fine, though.

Ok, I'll edit a 5th entry. After converting, the better heads.esm will be in \data files\, and will there be a \data files\bh\, or just dump the files in \textures\ ?

Just trying to remember from memory, at work atm...
