Before I Attempt To Add Mods To My Xbox...

QUOTE
Or am I safe to just hook my PC up to the XBOX via my handy crossover cable and go at it?

No your x-box must either be soft or hard modded so that you can access the games directory.

You will need a mod chip to install a dashboard called evolution x (Or another like it that has a built in FTP server) in order to do this.

I myself can't help you with this as I know nothing about hard modding.
I only wrote the manuals. In fact I don't even have a modded system, I use someone elses. I do know that you can use the mech assualt game save found on codejunkies to access evolution x (This is called soft modding) Where (I believe and Don't quote me on this though) that all you have to do is delete the game save to remove the evox dashboard.

If it were that easy, I can't imagine why so many people seem to have problems with it.

The guides are very easy to follow however the way you need to mod your system is not.

Sorry I can't be of any more help

Pick up a copy of any one of the following:
a) the first Splinter Cell (any version of this game will work)
b) the original MechAssault (only the first, non-plantinum-hits version will work)
c) 007: Agent Under Fire (only the first, non-platinum-hits version will work)
and I can send you a special save file to load that will give you FTP access to your Xbox's harddrive.

To get this savefile onto your Xbox, you can use
a) an Action Replay memory card
b) an Xbox controller with an xbox to USB adaptor to connect to your computer
c) a USB memory stick with an xbox to USB adaptor to connect to the xbox
d) the "swap trick", swapping the xbox harddrive after it boots and unlocks the drive to your computer while it is booting

This is a very brief overview of your options for software modding but also pretty complete.  If you have any questions about the above you can go ahead and message me.

I just recommend purchasing a mod-chip, I went with the Xecuter 2 but most retailers don't sell them anymore as they're out-dated. You'll have to go with a Xecuer 3 or SOMETHING ELSE (Can't really say what else, as I'm not really that experinced in modding, but there are a lot of different chips out there). You can find some great guides on modding your xbox in the "tutorials" section of xbox-scene.

I recommend finding a trusted retailer from the xbox-scene as well, I've known some retailers to be shady and some shippments will arrive damage--or just plain won't arrive at all.

Then like mentioned above you'll have to install a third-party dashboard, which is the hard part. There are some more great guides, once you have the dashboard running (I recommend EvoX for a newbie, right now I'm using Xbox Media Center) then you'll be able to FTP to the console.

Again, you'll have to find another third-party appllication that will allow you to copy DVD-games onto your hard-drive (Morrowind is a small game, so upgrading the hard-drive isn't really important) and from there you'll be able to access the game.

So to sum it up--even if you just want to mod Morrowind, you're going to have to mod  your xbox. You can do a soft-mod, but I would recommend just buying a modchip, they're much cheaper now then what they usta' be. So you will get your money's worth--believe me.

Before I Attempt To Add Mods To My Xbox...

Thanks for the replys, guys!

On Friday afternoon, I got my memory card all set up with the AR gamesaves, and got the other files needed once the gamesave gets loaded.  Today I went and got a system link cable and the Mechassault original game, I'm gonna get started with the process this afternoon and see if I did everything right.

Once that's all done, is it just a matter of FTP'ing the same mods I've got for the PC game onto the xbox?  And which drive do I put them in...the main partition or one of the others?

Thanks again for your help!

Diana

EDIT:  Oops!  I found the thread with detailed instructions on adding the mods...sorry!
