Command Console?
« on: April 23, 2005, 09:28:00 AM »

I'm assuming that your asking has anyone been able to get command console mods to work on the xbox

Don't quote me on this but I don't think it's possible due to the fact that unless you can hook up a keyboard to the X-box.

A keyboard probably can be hooked up to the x-box, but I have no idea how do it, or if you do manage to do so, if it will work.

Good luck

I would not rush towards saying the command console idea is totally impossible. I don't imagine that it would be impossible for someone with good enough programming skills to invent a mod that puts a command console in the xbox game. I don't think it's very likely to happen at this point in time, but I do believe it's possible for some reason.

QUOTE
A friend of mine tried to run a soft module using various codes in VB. He said what makes it difficult is the lack of variable encoding found in the GOTY version of Xbox. He mentioned that if you were you do a mild re-edit on existing mods, especially with textures, chances are, the command console itself will have to "target points" to initiate thus making the whole thing inexistent.

Not sure what your friend's talking about there... Visual Basic code only runs on windows with the proper DLLs loaded.  Lack of variable encoding?  "Target points"?

Perhaps a mod can activate the command console, if it still exists in the Xbox version.  If this was true, and I was really bored, I could inject some code into the XPP library to check for keyboard input, though this may slow the game down a little.  I still doubt that even a mod can bring down the command console in the Xbox version, and until I see this I don't see any point in pursuing it any further.
