Problems And Solutions
« on: March 14, 2005, 08:33:00 PM »

Ok I am having a serious problem with being able to not only weed through all the loose instructions on this forum But for some reason no matter what instruction I follow or whatever tool I use. The instructions never work for me. I don't know why or what the problem is that's causing this, whether I'm not doing something right which very well could be the case oor that someone left something out of the instruction, or both and I can go back and forth with people left and right about me not doing something right or someone left something out of the instructions. But rather than do that I figured the board could and would be better off if an approach of this nature was taken.

After 1 week of trying to figure out how to do this stuff and why it's not working for me no matter what I do. I came up with the following ideas

I have posted below the 2 problems with the best solutions to correcting them
This will not only stop all these topics, but everyone can bennefit from it as well

.................................................THE HEX EDITOR
PROBLEM:
Leaving out nothing the exact way to set up and use the hex editor to alter the Morrowind.xbe I have seen 5 different things reagding this and then stuff is added later making it even more confusing. Someone needs to precisley explain how to locate Z in the Morrowind.xbe From what you type in how you type it in how to activate it, how to change the value of Z to whatever it needs to be changed to, and how you save it.
The reason I say this is because so far, I have used 3 different hex editors, followed 3-5 different instructions here on this site for set up and which hex editor to use. I followed the instructions supplied exacvt I didn't miss a step or do anything different (It was exact) and for some weird reason, all 3 hex editors will not let me search ror Z. I ether get an onscreen message saying eihter hex string invalid or hex string not found.

SOLUTION:
An easy way to solve this problem would be to post pictures of what someone is doing to accomplish this. That way everyone can see what:
Needs to be changed, how it nees to be changed, what it needs to be changed to, as well as see how they close and save it.
Doing this will get it so that no one can say anything about what needs to be done.

....................................THE merging of PC Morrwind.esm FILE

PROBLEM:
This is another the other thing i can't seem to get because there are too many pages that have too many instructions on doing this. Thi .ini file is what I'm mostly refering to. I have now just found yet another reply about 2 pages past the section of where the other parts of this are. After finding this I have no idea of how th ini needs to be edited to allow merging. The other thing is the entre instruction on how to merge the PC files is also spread out and sloppy.

SOLUTION:
An easy solution to the .ini would be is to set up a link somehow to an entire Morrowind.ini file that is all ready set up, so that you only need to add your log on name to it. either thaat or post up everything in the ini that needs to be changed and what to change it to. After that there can be way no way anyone can say they can't follow it or that it isn't set up properly.

As I said this would be the easiest way to solve the PC.inifile set up problem

Even though people are not required to, if someone would and could be kind enough to do the above2 solutions it would be much apprecieated.

As I said in a previous post I'm trying to work with people rather than cause more problems and confusion. Because the written instructions are obviously a bit difficult to follow.

Thanks in advance
