Merge To Masters Button Not There
« on: March 13, 2005, 06:04:00 PM »

I'm really starting to think that because of the way my x-box is set up, that it's not doing the normal stuff everyone else's is doing. Which would answer why most of the stuff that was said to do I did and it still didn't wok. So due to that I really think that there is no universal way to make a one set instruction manual. I have another problem now....And that is with merging the PC Morrowind.esm with the tribunal and bloodmoon.esp

So rather than lash out at the comunity like the asshole I was before.
I will approach my problem with
1. A public appology for me spamming the board with bullshit AND SAYING THAT FOR THE RECORD EVERYONE, I WAS WRONG AND OTHERS WERE RIGHT
PC MODS CAN BE USED ON THE X-BOX........THERE IS NO QUSTION ABOUT IT!!!

2. A better attitude

3. A solid outline as what I did so that people can see where I might have done wrong or what might be or is missing which is preventing it from working

4. Waiting for a response and trying it and if that doen\sn't work then to come back and repeat the procedure

5. Stop demanding answers from people like they owe me something.

And if people here don't want to help me out after the way I acted, then that's fine. After all I did bring it on myself.
____________________________________________________________________

Someone was kind enough to PM me with instructions for doing this, something isn't adding up and I can't figure it out and maybe you can.....

I told the person that I would have the stuff today, so I got it all

I have installed everything using the actuall store bought factory made disks (Not copies or downloaded stuff)
1. Morrowind/construction set
2. Bloodmoon
3. Tribunal

Are now all on my computer

I followed the Instructions you left me
___________________________________________________________

Open the pc morrowind.ini, look for [WhoCanMerge]. if it's not there add it 3 lines below "Open preview". Add the name you log to your computer with one line under it and make it equal to 1. Like this

[WhoCanMerge]
YourUserName=1

[Level Up]

You can now save the ini file and close it

Ok my log on name is tx3001 and that's how it's written in the Morrowind.ini

[WhoCanMerge]
tx3001=1

[Level Up]

Now I don't know of there are supposed to be spaces or not between my log on name and the next line under it which is [Level Up] but from the information that was provided to me I believe step 2 is and should be correct
(If not can someone tell me what I did wrong)
___________________________________________________________
Next they said:
Open TESTDK, open Bloodmoon.esm(in the data files folder where you installed morrowind on the pc), click the button ESM->ESP. You should now have Bloodmoon.esp in your TESTDK Folder (if the filename is free_bloodmoon.esp, remove the free_ so you have bloodmoon.esp only).

4th copy bloodmoon.esp to your morrowind data files folder

5th repeat step 3 and 4 with tribunal.esm

I did that as well...
___________________________________________________________

6th open the construction set, click file->data files. A window will pop up. Leave only morrowind.esm and bloodmoon.esp checked (check them if they arent). with bloodmoon.esp selected, click set as active file, then click ok. The window will close and the files will load in the construction set.

I did that
___________________________________________________________
This is where the problem is:

Once that is done click file->data files again, select only bloodmoon.esp click merge to masters (if that button is not there then you have not done step 2 correctly)

Merge to masters button is not there...and I did do step 2 correctly
My log on name is tx3001 and that's what I have written in the Morrowind.ini written as shown:

[WhoCanMerge]
tx3001=1

(Even though I don't need to use it or a password to get into my computer, I just turn it on and then my computer starts up) that shouldn't be the issue with this. As long as it says tx3001 in the ini t should work right...Unless I'm wrong about that.

So maybe someone might be able to shed some light why this isn't working for me...

Thanks in advance...

Then that has got to be what the problem is and lies, because I didn't change any Zeros in it.

What do you mean change the 0 to a 1.

Which 0? There is at least over 150 zero's in it.

No my ini file already had the [WhoCanMerge]  in it.
So I just put my log on name (Which is tx3001) right underneath that

So what I have is this:

Here is the exact layout of that section of what my ini file looked like before I added My log on name to it:

[Editor]
Open Render=1
Open Cell View=1
Open Object Window=1
Open Preview=0

[WhoCanMerge]

[Level Up]
Level2=You realize that all your life you have been coasting along as if you were in a dream. Suddenly, facing the trials of the last few days, you have come alive.
____________________________________________________________________

and here is that section of my .ini file looked like after I added my log on name to it:

[Editor]
Open Render=1
Open Cell View=1
Open Object Window=1
Open Preview=0

[WhoCanMerge]
tX3000=1

[Level Up]
Level2=You realize that all your life you have been coasting along as if you were in a dream. Suddenly, facing the trials of the last few days, you have come alive.
____________________________________________________________________
Now if this is wrong, could someone fix it for me the way it supposed to be by adjusting it in here so I can see how it is supposed to be?
____________________________________________________________________
Also I still don't know what you mean by Change the 0 to a 1?
Which Zero?

Or should I just disregard that.

If you want to insist on trying the hex method for this, you may want to try making a new login for your computer, with a password, and have it be an administrator login in case that is required.

I would not use this method if I were you.  If you thought the hex method was complex to get right, this one will frustrate you to no end.  Read my reply to your other post, and double check that those steps match what you did.  The Hex method was just tons easier for me and you can switch your mods without making a new PC mega esm each time. The esm method can run scripted mods but those are usually pretty stupid in my opinion. The ones that are really good have all worked for me with the Hex method. (Better Heads, Better Bodies, mods for new races, mods for better clothes, etc.)

You wonder why I lash out at the board....It's because of the shit you people keep giving me first see below. This topic of your instructions I followed are rigth and I did something wrong is where this whole mess starts from.

Rather than take the time to undrestand something is wrong and it's not me following the instructions wrong either you simply call me names and what not.
and when I lash out at the board becuase this messages is the 13th post I have made trying to get it accross to you that something is wrong then you wonder why I lash out...Well you answer lies within this reply..In fact the reason is because I have to keep replying with replies such as these.

I don't know why you refused to believe what I'm telling you. and all you do is say i've explained it simple or that I'm stupid or to fuck off because your sick of explaining things. What do you think I just come ut with questions like this for no reason at all or do you think that If I'm at the point wheer I'm at that I'm just making all this stuff up. If you took the time to realize that I at least work with your instruction for at least an huor and a half before I come abck posting topics like these. You don't even take the time to understand that.

I have been way too patient with you and I can't for the life of me figure out why you dont' get what I'm saying. And reprinting the same exact instructions that all ready didn't work to beginwith. Isn't going to resolve the matter. Regardless of how the instructions are written, if it didn't work teh first time, then what makes you think they will work the 2nd or even 3rd time you print them? I don't get it?

So I'll explain this for the last time:

You somehow seem to think that the hex editor explination thing works for everyone. Just because it worked for you and maybe one or 2 othe people but you somehow want to keep not only ignoring the fact that:
1. I told you that I followed the instructons to a tee (The ones you provided) I even typed out teh steps i did and your still telling me I did something wrong.

2. I all ready told you the hex editor almost screwed up my system following the instructions you left.

I don't know what your deal is but I know what I do on my own computer, and I know what instructions I followed and how I followed them. But you have this idea in your head that I must not have done them right even though I typed out and showed that I did them right that I still did it wrong. Did you ever once stopped to think that maybe there is something that your doing that you haven't explained that you may not realize or think may be important. There is obviously some confiction here. You left instructions, I follwoed them exactly as written. and it worked for you and maybe a few others, but I got nothing from it. So there is obviouly something missing.....After all I follwoed your instructions and they didn't work for me. But you somehow want to keep blaming me because your instructions aren't working for me. You can say what you want but the fact of the matter is that:

1. The 2 hex editors I went through cannot be used to search with what you have written. I all ready proved that.

That being the case then you didn't explain exactly how you set have the hex editor set up...it hase to be. Why else would it be doing that.

2. This method still doesn't work on my system due to the first step not working.

Besides the 2 hex editors I tried using, will not allow you to use a backslash, colon or both at once in the search section. It will only allow alpha-numeric only
Adding what you told said to do to the hex editor I cpied and pasted it in the seach bar so i know it was typed correctly..You typed it.
Z:\
When I go to search, it tells me the hex string is invalid.
So I don't know what you doing to get the hex editor way working but for some reason on my system, the way you would normally do things don't work on my system. Now why that is or would be, I don't know. All I do know is that it doesn't work on my system.

And once again you can say what you want or that I'm doing something wrong but I'm telling you that the hex editor will not let ME search it with Z:/ in it.
I wish I could get a screen shot of this and post it here so that you can see it for yourself that I have
1. The hex editor set up right
2. The Z:/ in the search bar right
3. The on screen message of invalid hex string being shown.

I have gone out of my way to explain to you at least 4-5 different ways that something is wrong here even though I followed your instructions to a tee.

Hopefully the light will dawn on you and this issue can get resolved.

I'll be looking for the reply. PM me if you want to.
