Here's A Mod I Made For Morrowind
« Reply #1 on: March 11, 2005, 10:49:00 PM »

I have been through 6 manuals, 7 PMs and over 17 replies, and topics for going on 2 weeks now trying to install just 1 of over the 50 mods, without being able to get any one of them to work.

There hasn't been one way I have not tried installed any one of the 52 mods I downloaded using any and all the instructions and info provided by people on this site.

So Yeah I'm 100% sure that after doing and using all of this for as long as I have, that there is no PC mod out there that will work on the x-box.

So do you want to try asking me If I'm sure again?

Here's how I went about converting my PC clear bounty mod over to the xbox.

Download this file it has everything you need to follow along with this How too.
Morrowind_Convert_PC-Xbox.zip

Note these are steps for the game of the year edition as I dont have the regular edition to try. Also note the file in my first post is allready converted ready to be installed.

Step 1: FTP to your xbox
Step 2: Transfer "Morrowind.esm" to your PC its located in "Z/data files/" or "Y/data files/"
Step 3: Run "TESDTK" that you downloaded
Step 4: Click "open file" and open the "ClearBounty.esp" that was included in the download
Step 5: Click "Update current version number" and selete the "Morrowind.esm" that you transferd from your xbox
Step 6: Click "Convert ESP to ESM" after this you can close "TESDTK"
Step 7: Locate the converted "free ClearBounty.esm" file and rename it to "ClearBounty.esm" should be in the same directory that "TESDTK" is in
Step 7: FTP to your xbox
Step 8: Transfer the converted "ClearBounty.esm" to "Z/data files/" or "Y/data files/" which ever one had your "Morrowind.esm"
Step 9: Everything should be good to go if this dont work for you then I have no idea whats worng as it works for me just fine

If anyone has gottin this to work for them please post a reply sayin it works
If you have the regular edition please post how you got it to work

I also want to infrom you that when I played with this mod I did not start a new game I loaded an allready saved game and it worked just fine

Thanks

I have GOTY Edition
No I automatically put it down without testing it out...Yes it does work and of course it's going to work because it'es set up so it was compatable with the system that's like going out and buying a dvd remote that is for the x-box.

But this cannot be compared to my problem because your talking the difference between something that has already been coverted so that your system can read it compared to taking a complete non converted PC mod that you need to convert

I'll save you the trouble and I can garantee that there is nothing that your going to tell me that I have not all ready done ok Ready here is the list:
I have the follwoing tools:
2 different hex editors
The TESDTK tool (Which doesn't work)

These 2 links:
http://dwl.xbox-scen...windgotytut.pdf
Morrowind mods at XboX-scene

There is one other link I have that I can't find at the moment

Various PM's with instructions

Using all of this stuff trying to convert 52 different mods to the x-box (Yes this includes ones that people said they got to work)

1. I get a mod
I have changed the tribunal and bloodmoon .esp as well as tried deleteing them so I had 2 versions of them

2. I start a new game and quit

3. I transfered the esp into the data files section in the X, Y, Z catche as well as the data Files section in the game directory itself and I have also tried putting them into the section where the data files were located not int the data file folder

Now after doing all this following the instructions provided and not having anything work you tell me what's wrong.

I can tell you exactly what the problem is and It's really Not to difficult to figure out why:

I've said it once and I'll say it again:
Morrowind PC mods Cannot and will not work on the X-Box it's that simple.

And I don't know how many times or ways I have to say or ask this:
But I cannot open any file with the TESDTK.
The only thing this tool does when activated is the screen flickers black for a split second and then nothing. I tried right clicking an esp ond opening it with teh tool that way same thing thing happens the screen flickers an then nothing.
No matter what I cahange the file extention to and ttry to open it with the tool all that happens is the screen flickers black for a split second and then nothing.

So as for telling me to click update current version...There is no option to do so
That's why I Put in parentheses which this tool doesn't work.

People keep asking me to use options that don't exist.

I got rid of it because it's useless So I now longer have the tool.

There was also no read me provided with it here is the Tool you can download it for yourself I have provided the exact version that was given to me Good luck using this http://www.tamriel-r...tils/TESDTK.zip

Thanks for your help anyway If you want to keep helping but I don't know how much good or whatever else is left to try considering after all that's been tried doesn't work. Maybe were missing something stupid but I highly doubt it. Either that or someone is purposly with holding info Which is probably teh case.
Because no one is going to sit these and tell me the instructions they gave me which was used by them and worked but when I followed them exactly it didn't work. There are onnly 2 things here
1. People are lying
2. They are not providing the full instruction
it really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.
I all ready explained what didn't work and gave the entire lay out of what I did showing what I did and it's everything people said to do. So teh only things left are the 2 things I mentioned above lying or with holding info there is no 2 ways about it.

2 things here:
I'm really getting so sick of people saying they did thing that simply cannot be done

1. WHEN PEOPLE STOP LYING ABOUT DOING THINGS THAT CANNOT BE DONE THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL I STOP SAYING THAT PC MODS DON'T WORK ON THE X-BOX BECUAES THEY DON'T OK! I have been at this for far too long following bullshit instructions and listening to people bable on aWITH NOTHING BUT LIES of getting tools that don't work to work and saying they got mods to work that cannot have been possible and that

Here is number 2
You say that the tool works and that you opened and edited files with it

THAT IS 110% COMPLETE BULLSHIT!

I can tell you for a fact that I know you didn't and could not have opened any files with that tool. Because there is no option to open the files and there is no read me with that tool either. If can't open and edit any file with it  there is no file on the net that I can't open with the right tool my comp can open and handle anything thrown at it no one upon no one is going to tell me that they used this tool to open and edit something with it. It doesn't work for me and it won't work for anyone else either

There are only 3 things in that tool and here they are:

1. some application that when clicked or manually opened the screen flickers black for a split second and then nothing happens

2. There is some MS paint thing in there that cannot be opened with MS paint, MS word, notepad, word pad, adobie, nothing opens (Whatever that thing is) I have even tried openiing it with a Hex editor. I have even tried changing it by right clicking on it and using the properties.

3. It has a folder titled README_IMAGES which consist of nothing but little pictures with symbols on them that when opend all it sg\hows in the upper lefthand corner of the screen are very small pictures that have no tex on them.

SO where are you getting this shit from!

That reply above me wasn't supposed to get posted ignore that
That was supposed to be an e-mail for some prick giving me areal bitch of a time that wasn't meant for you

I forgot that I had that copied on my mouse sad.gif

Here is the response that was meant for you:
I spent over 3 hours tring to use this. Now your going to come along and tell me that it works and you used it in a matter of 5 min blink.gif

You say that the tool works and that you opened and edited files with it Ok Ok I'll give you the bennefit of the doubt that it works.. But how and where is ther read me in it.

There are only 3 things in that tool and here they are:

1. Some application that when clicked or manually opened the screen flickers black for a split second and then nothing happens I'm telling you no program starts I waited for 3 min for a program to start and nothing happend so I waited 5 min nothing started...I don't get it

2. My guess is that this is the readme but I can't tell...There is some MS paint thing in there that's in  the form of an .HTM document that can't opened with anything on my computer, this includes and is not limited to: MS paint, MS word, notepad, word pad, adobie, nothing opens (Whatever that thing is) I have even tried openiing it with a Hex editor. I have even tried changing it by right clicking on it and using the properties and it won't open.

3. It has a folder titled README_IMAGES which consist of nothing but little pictures with symbols on them that when opend all it shows in the upper lefthand corner of the screen are very small pictures that have no tex on them.

So enlighten me on what you did please

I also sent you a PM

BTW I did mention that your mod worked of course it's going to work it's all readdy compatible and that's the reason it did work. It was already coverted tso that it was compatable with the x-box. That's like me buying a dvd remote for the x-box that can't be compared to this. ahveing something that all ready works is 100% completely different than taking something that need to be convertedm and then coverting it.
It's not the same and can't be compared

Ok I installed java but the application still won't run
It keeps doing the samething when I open it.. The screen will flicker black for a split second and then nothing happens.
So I now know that it's not the jave and it's not my comp, it has to be the tool.

Now I have the neccessary tols to run this tool and it still won't work.
How the fuck does this keep happening. People say I need somethiing..So I get what they say to get. and then I get the same result as before wich is nothing works. Even though we have the same exact tools, and I do the same precise things but other peoples work and mine doesn't.
This is completely fucked!

I don't get it? 3 questions here?

1. YOu said the read me came with this tool...Where in the tool is the read me?

2. How did you open it (What program did you use to open it)

3. About the JAVA I may not have the right version so
From the JAVA link or whatever it is I'm there now:
There are about 50 different things here

Where am I supposed to go to get Which version am I supposed to?

You know these people would be better off if they jsut either supply the exact link to the exact thing
or add it to the downloaded package. This is friggin ridiculous having to look for all this stuff.

I definiately didn't have the version of JAVA that I just got from you.

Yeah it runs now where did you get that from I was on that site for 15 min looking for it I found some links to something that said runtime but I never was able to navigate to find the download for it.

Also the other link to the dependncy kit where did that come from.

you know the only thing I thnk that I had that was correct was the Morrowind .esm file that I got from my game and has been on my comp for 3 weeks at least.

Btw Nice tutorial.

You really have been the best help so far. Thanks soo much for being patient
These other fuckers can choke on it. I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong I knew that something wasn't missing. Those fuckers wanted to piss me off so i slandered the board with crap just like they did. Sorry for the people that didn't need to see half of this shit. But I knew If I kept it within reason and said it enough that someone would either get sicvk of me or realize that others were just being stupid or didn't know what was missing due to the assumption problem that seems to be here. But anyway it should be solved now.

Others should take what you have done and use it as an example now how long did that take you to do what about 1 half hour to an hour.
So I have been fighting with people tooth and nail for 2 weeks to get an answer that was given to me in an hour...That's fucking absurd. And I had been saying all along that it should be all in one post topic. and I was right because that's what you did. I hope this gets pinned after all of your hard work.
Now if you would like since you have helped me beyond belief I would like to give you some of my own things that I did.
Do you play either GTA III Fable or both?
PM me with the answer.
