Well I don't know what happened whoever was responsible for posting that little hex editor explination, almost screwed up my system and my other friends system permanantly.

We both opened up the morrowind.xbe and changed the values of 1, 3, 5 and 7 from Z to D:\

I don't know how you were able to see the configuration you have layed out below or where you got the idea that it's th 1, 3, 5, 7 figures that need to be changed, as well as what they needed to be changed to.

this should be Z:\
Z:\Data Files\
Z:\Data Files\%s
Z:\Data Files\Meshes

The thinking here is that since D:\ is the game "disc" we can force morrowind to look there instead of its cache files.

Fortunatly for us since we had our system modded by the same person and have the exact same set up, we were able to fix our systems because of how they are set up.

Anyway, you may want to have that instruction removed because of what it's doing to people's systms.

ok my ini file looks just like that...but here's the problem, when you copy morrowind over you have to copy the added textures over after from a cd or ftp..not stored on the xbox...textures should be in a folder named textures and copyed into the data files folder.

do the hex trick and try it....

first try a small texture mod...enhanced creatures or something...a mod with just textures...no esp files or anything just textures.

dont bother downsizing them, just use them as they are. (downsizing just gets rid of dde)

if that works try something else.

sorry my low english...

xerik's tip
hexedit(textpad)... using 'find'--replace first, third, fourth, sixth(not first,third,fifth,seventh) Z:\ ---> D:\
this should be
Z:\
Z:\Data Files\monthstorespwan
Z:\Data Files\%s
Z:\Data Files\Meshes

and replace fifth 'Z:\data files\morrowind.bsa|tryarchivefirst~~' Z:\ ----> D:\
copy new textures to f:\morrowind\data files\textures(or icons...etc) folder.
f:\morrowind\data files\morrowind.bsa(Game copied dir) file is older than new textures
now works new textures!

I was your reply in one of the topics and it looks like all it's doing is confusing you.

Here is a link to a guide I made that explains precisely how to hex edite the Morrowind.xbe file:

I was able to get *some* PC mods to work with the original XBox version of Morrowind. However, those old tricks don't seem to work with the recently released Game Of The Year Edition. I tried putting the mod files in multiple folders, and even editing the Morrowind.ini file (which I am beginning to doubt that the XBox version even uses). So far no luck.

If anyone else is able to figure this out, please post here. Thanks!

Cheers,

That sucks.  Did you try any mods that are specific to the expansions (i.e. won't work on a PC without them loaded).  Maybe newer versions are required.  This is disappointing but I am glad I didn't move all my loot to my modded house outside Vivic (Abandoned Flat).

I have made a couple of mods that require both expansions, and the result is unfortunately the same; the game just doesn't see them. That is a real shame too... I had some favorite mods that I liked using on the PC version, and I was thrilled when I discovered how to run them on the 'Box.

Such a bummer. Maybe someone will deconstruct the XBE or whatever file controls the loading of the assets, and re-enable that feature...

Hey all, this is Orochi, of the elderscrolls message boards, and I guess of xboxhacker, should anyone recognise me.. In any event I have mad a little progress with using mods on the xbox version of GOTY edition, and thought I should let you guys know incase anyone wanted to help me out with the project.

The bad news, is that I've had no luck getting the plugins themselves to load, and unfotunately the official bethesda construction set refuses to load up the morrowind.esm file. What I have, manged to do however, is get the morrowind.esm fiile to load up in the " Morrowind Enchanted Editor", an unnofficial plugin and master file editor that lats you tweak just about any and every value in the file, as well as add or remove content.

What does this mean for xbox users? Well, basicly, it means that with a little work, we could directly integrate into the morrowind.esm file most any plugins we wanted to use. Just how dificult this process wouls be isnt realy clear to me yet, but I am going to attempt to contact  the people that produced the Enchanted Editor, and hopefully the y will be able to fill me in on just what tools are, and will be, at ourt disposal.

If anyone would like to help, please feel free to email me at [email protected].

That's a bummer that it may come down to hacking the ESM to get this stuff to work, but if that's what it takes, so be it. Where can one find this editor?
