Painted My Slim Ps2!
« on: December 10, 2005, 09:42:00 PM »

Ok, I got bored of looking at the same old black ps2.  (not that I play it much since I got my xbox, but w/e).  So I painted it.  Tell me what you think.

Hey man, fucka slim line I only say that casue the orig. fits the hd and hd advance nicely. But your paint looks nice, most poeple wont hit this part of the forum, so it wil ltake a minute (or a few days) to get some replys. Keep up the good work.  Any other systems you ahve done?

And by the way I like that stripe, I think it makes the ps slim look better
What kind of paint did you use it came out pretty.. er, I mean very manly but looks nice  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I used Krylon Fusion spray paint, which is specifically for plastics.  I have also done my xbox and nintendo, but the nintendo isn't finished.  Here's some pics.

Looks good man. well except around the lettering on your nes..  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)   Your xbox looks real clean you got any pointers for painting on plastic?

As I am painting a slim right now, I am doing a lot of sanding, but seeing as this is the first time I sprayed anything other than a model rocket... and I just had to go with some color shift krylon mystic or some shit..  So far it looks good but I have been hitting it with that sandpaper between every few coats. started with some 800 in the beginning and now I am up to 1500. The case looks OK I just cant get a decent picture the metal flakes in the paint make my pictures look like I am the worst painter ever..

Actually, I never even sanded my ps2.  I just made sure it was clean.  Since Krylon Fusion is specifically for plastic it isn't necessary to sand it.  I did sand my xbox a little bit, but I don't think it mattered that much.  I know the NES is messed up, I just wasnt sure what to do about the letters.  I've decided to paint over the letters, b/c it's about impossible to cover them while i paint.

As far as the actual painting goes, I did prob. 3 coats (maybe 4).  You don't want too much, but you also want to make sure you put enough.  For some reason I tend to put heavier coats near the outsides, so I have to make sure I spray the middle good.  Also, don't get impatient.  Wait at least 15 minutes in between each coat.  I waited 30 min.

That looks disgusting,  It looks, oh I can't even say it, I don't want to hurt your feelings.  It looks... like a PS2. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

That's actually a really nice paint job.  Too many paint jobs look like shite, nice to see a good one with someone who took their time.  I'd give you a few more props, but it IS a PS2! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
