Dreamcast Emulator Question
« on: July 11, 2005, 01:45:00 AM »

im still new at dreamcast emulation and i don't know that many things about this yet.

i'm still reading tutorials on other sites but while i'm doing this i was hoping that someone here could answer my question quicker

ok so i got a dreamcast emulator, and i guess there are two differnt types, the already made selfboot .cdi image emulator and then there are the "plain files"

i'm wondering if i do the selfboot way how can i get my roms to play

would i have to create a second disc for roms and then switch the discs?
if thats the case then i don't want to do that

the second one has those two files already made and it says you can put the roms on the root of it (which i'm guessing means that i wouldn't make any roms folder or anything)

now what i really wanted to know is if i did it this way how could i make these files into a selfbootable .cdi image

like is said i've been reading tutorials for this but i think its telling me how to make the 1st_read.bin and ip.bin which are already here for me and i just want to know how to turn those already made files into a .cdi image

any help please

to make a selfboot cd, get a program called Disco Stu's Self Boot [Solution?] (aka DSSBS) it's the best selfboot maker I've ever used.  You HAVE checked DCEmulation.com, right?  also there's dcemu.co.uk

edit: get dssbs here

thanks i'll try that out later, i ran out of cd-r's

so far i got the nes and snes working

there was a self booter package that only made self boot images out of those two and two other emulators that i don't know of

then i also tried going with the .sbi (self inducer) way
supposivly able to load several emulators on one disc, but i loaded to many emulators at once and all the files got too juggled together and got too confusing for me, so out of a 7 emluator disc i only got master system and game gear to find the roms
