Question?
« on: July 01, 2005, 01:09:00 PM »

SORRY if this is like the dumpest question ever, but before I get into modding my KOTOR II, need ftp programs and need to learn how to first, I was wondering what are your limits with regarding to what can be modded? If there are any?

Are you able to change 2da appearences like for example you have visa wearing a jedi robe instead of her leather robe while keeping her normal head look? Also maybe having a different color to her head shroud?
Are you able to change the color texters of robes for example taking the Aleema Koltro robe and alter the colors as well as the small pic icon that shows when the item is in your item selection?

These are just a couple of ideas I have cause I have done this for my PC version but I like playing KOTOR II on the xbox better  biggrin.gif

THANKS upfront for your time and help.

If you noticed the screencap on my download page, Visas is in black... all black, for just the reasons you asked about. Yes, you can change heads/bodies/colors, etc.

About the only true limitation is adding new models and your imagination/skill. Other than that, these games are both very flexible.

I'll post the old Kotor Tool on my yahoo groups website and post the link on this forum.  I should get that done sometime today when I get home from work.

About ftp...

The best way to ftp between your pc and your xbox would either be via internet explorer (I find this method very simple because of the drag and drop method) or via Ultrafxp.  Ultra is a free and userfriendly program that has all the same functionalies as the other shareware files out there.

As for Internet Explorer, this is what you do:

-First make sure that your xbox is networked via broadband router
-Open your Internet Explorer
-On the address bar, type in ftp://(insert your xbox's IP address here) you can get this from the dashboard of your xbox's OS (For Avalaunch, bottom left, for Evox bottom right...it should read something like 192.168...)
-Your username and password should both be "xbox" (No quotes)
-You'll then see the contents of your xbox
-What you want is to access this directory (We'll assume that your game directory is on the F drive)

F:\Games\SW Kotor 2 (or SW Kotor 1)

-Then open a seperate window for Windows Explorer
-From here, you can drag contents from your PC to you Xbox and vice-versa.

Hope this helps...

I must be doing something wrong cause I keep getting page not found when I use internet. I downloaded flash ftp but can't get any kind conection to my xbox, or I don't know where to look to get a connection to my xbox?
when I looked in my xbox avanlauch program it said my ip was 192:168:1.101
I'm sorry for these annoying questions.
I guess once I can talk between my pc and xbox then modding will be somewhat easy?
And what yahoo page is the site at?
Plus when people mention not being able to add new models what does that mean exactly? I have done some mods for the pc and have added a new selectable head at the select screen and was able to wear the robes of the sith that are fond in the game. Or you just can't have a new hilt model--still learning the terminalagy of modding   :D
thanks

OK, your address should be 192.168.1.101 (They're dots not semi-colons)

I'm still cleaning up a lot of the junk that I have on the site.  Once it's ready, i'll post a general announcement with the links.

Models are simply new textures or modifications to an existing item in the game.  This is done using the Kotor Tool program that right now is still a little shaky because of the new update made to it.  I'm running some tests right now just to make sure that we don't mislead any of you who want to use the program.  I'll be posting an updated and detailed tutorial on how to use it.  I'll also post a tut on using KSE and KMU for those of you who are looking to edit your gamesaves.  Both tools have limited Xbox support but is good enough to tweak things like your attributes, skill ratings, # of sabers in your inventory, etc.  These should be up within the next few days.
