This is nothing terribly new to Sony, but there are reports of a small number of PSPs being defective. Because of the hilarity found on this page, I don't know if this should go in comedy or not.... Just watch the videos.

Is it any surprise, really?  How many PS2 owners had their drive bay broken within a year of purchase?

and you would think that after the whole fiasco with early PS1 and PS2 units, sony would learn a thing about using higher quality drive units  dry.gif  as for the right side not matching up that well with the keys, that's just plain stupidity from the hardware designers IMO.

i'll still most-likely get one when they improve on the build quality and the rumored battery life quirks rolleyes.gif

You should EXPECT every version 1 release of every system to have problems.
They cant fix the problems until they know what they are and the best way to find them is to sell millions of system and wait and see what breaks.

Why did MS use such a crap drive in the v1 xbox?I had problems playing a brand new game 2 months after I bought my XBOX on the first day it was available.

Revisions will be made to every system if problems are wide spread so if you must have a system the day it comes out then you should consider yourself to be a beta tester.

I read on Gamespot that they tested ridge racer and got an average of 3 hours without WIFI, and get this, 90 minutes while using wifi  dry.gif

That sucks, I really wanted one too. Oh well I bought a new mp3 player and thats all I would have used ti for anyways

That UMD flying is just too funny.  Yeah all first runs have bad ones but it seems with Sony a lot of 2nd and 3rd runs do also.  Note too that these things were super rushed to market so that should account for more defects.

If the quality of the hardware and battery life improves(im sure both will happen soon) then I'll get mine.

90 mins is not acceptable.

Id bet with DS wireless you get 5-10 hours but I have yet to really find someone else with one to prove this statement.

Some dead pixels so far and some sound distortion on GBA games.  Ive heard of no other problems yet.  Im no fan boy but theres no denying that Nintendo uses better quailty parts and has a better Q/A program in general.

how many busted ass ps2 in comparison to GCs should pretty much tell you all you'd need to know.

Sont's Computer Entertainment department seems to get away with an awful lot, all of my other sony products are High quality, but my Ps2 is prone to DRE's and the like
