Kotor Live Content
« on: February 03, 2005, 09:53:00 AM »

So. . .I've seen this discussed a few times and I still haven't seen a solid answer. Hopefully someone here might be able to give me one. I've happily had xbox live on my modded xbox up and working for quite some time now. Unfortunately, my ISP has switched standards in it's DSL service. This switch of standards has caused my MTU (maximum transmission unit) to drop below the required 1365 to communicate to xbox live. I've scoured the internet for alternate solutions to fix this and I've raised hell with my ISP trying to get them to sort this out. To my avail, it seems I can no longer connect to xbox live.

So, I have these games that would greatly benefit from xbox live downloadable content. The one that bugs me in particular at this moment is Star Wars KOTOR. I really want to maximize my gameplay this time around and download Yavin station, but I cannot connect to xbox live. So. . .if ANYONE out there has any knowledge of how to use xbox live content (star wars kotor content in particular) without actually downloading it through your account, I would greatly appreciate any input given.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe your only legal recourse is to pick up a copy of the Official Xbox Magazine. Their disc often includes XBlive content, usually maps and such, but they may throw in patches as well. Since you're talking about an older game, you might be able to order a back issue with the content, if it was ever released on disc. From their website:
QUOTE
Q – How can I purchase back issues?
A – You may purchase back issues at a rate of $9.95 (US$12 for Canadian Orders, prepaid in US funds, GST included) while supplies last. Include a check or money order made payable to:

Official Xbox Magazine
P.O. Box 7205
Clinton, IA 52736-7205

You may also pay by credit card by calling 1-800-865-7240

You could also use a copy of a game save that has live content and ftp the files over to your pc and use all the files you need for your game.  I was able to transfer Yavin and all its contents to my Xbox successfully without having to download it via Xbox Live.

I heard that the download content for this game just lets you go to a new planet where you can buy some really expensive weapons and armor. Nonetheless, i'd still like to see this planet.

I would have been nice if they had a way to get the expansion thing for those of who cannot connect to xbox live.

You can go to either xbox-saves.com or codejunkies.com if you don't have a modded xbox to access some gamesaves that have all the contents from this "new" planet.  The planet's name is Yavin and basically this planet is just a space station (No bigger than the Ebon Hawk) that sells high priced items (weapons, bands, etc.)  The only real good item(s) from this are the 2 rare saber color crystals that are about 20000+ credits each.  In order for you to get this crystal, you'll have to follow a "mini" side quest and help the merchant fight off some Trandoshans (those lizard looking dudes).
