Wha???

You could never play physical back up copies before today.  It was done by streaming a file(not a disk I think) from your comp to the GC.

The Viper DOES BOOT COPIED GAMES with NOTHING to do with the PSO exploit.

Prove me wrong.

This is very new news if you have been paying attention, like 5 hours old now.

Ive been watching and listening to a guy that knows what hes doing and talking about.  This is finally the real deal guys.

Course you gotta find the Cobra bios...

My Viper should be here right around Xmas

What you're forgetting is that the laser won't actually reach the far side of the disk. We can dream, but full sized dvds will never work. people were easily tricked when a video was posted of a full sized disk working, which was as far as everybody knew, was never connected the tv.

Ok yes but think about it,  GC images wont be any larger then what a mini will hold.  So only 1.4(or whatever) gig will be written on a normal DVD. No data will be at the edges to read anyway so its moot to even consider how far the laser will go unless your thinking about DVD movies.

So burn it to DVD-R take the top off and wala.

Im sure that someone has used DVD-Rs with GC images with the top off.  People are reporting that to work.

Also I think a drive is a drive is a drive anymore short of firmware.  It shouldnt be too hard to rewire a normal one to work with it unless the firmware is actually on the laser assembly.

New assembly that reads all the way and the GC DVD firmware in theory should work just fine.

apparently according to the ps2admin, there is a firmware hack that allows a normal computer pc dvddrive to read Gc discs, it isn't going to be released for a while tho.  So maybe it wil be something based on that.  I'm fine with mini dvd's tho.

if you read the nfo on the hacked bios youll notice that mini-dvds are less compatible and more of a burden then normal sized. I probably just take mine apart and use normal sized dvds.

this is really cool. a new scene is about to blow up. good thing too....the gamecube was just about dying/

2)You upgrade your comp DVD drive's firmware to read them but as has been stated its not out yet and we dont know when it will be.

At first your going to have to flash the BIOs according to if you want to play games or rip games, but before long better BIO's or chips with multiple banks will appear.
