just wanted to know where all of our saviors are? I remember KOTOR I having it's many speed bumps but we all got past them together, this time around it just seems dead.  Anyone who has figured out how to use robes like the one that belongs to Darth N or, Atris's robe...can someone explain to me how?

Do you pay any attention at all to the other posts here? I've said - more than once - that I've been modding this game (since the day I brought it home).

Yes, I can get anything in the game, mod pretty much anything in the game and am in the process of working out all the details. I've written custom scripts, created custom items and characters and a bunch of other things just to see what is and isn't possible this time around.

The biggest hitch I've hit so far is the scripting. There is considerably more to the scripts this time and the compiler I used with the first game doesn't like a lot of the new commands, so I'm limited as to what I can do with scripts... which is a shame considering all the stuff they've added. I'm assuming when the PC version comes out, someone will release a compatible compiler and then I'll be set.

I'm thinking about releasing a mod for this game that I've been using for testing. At the moment, it does the following:

Change alignment - Light/Dark 100%
Add/Remove party members (this can include custom NPC's)
Equip creature items - hides/claws etc.
Load custom inventory scripts

... and I'm adding a medstation and workbench to it so I have access to them at any time (remember, I said "testing" ;) ).
I may also add a teleport function, give experience, change appearence, and a few other things I've been messing with.

So uh, yeah, it's being done. Telling you how is another matter since there's a shitload of new things to sort through (I don't plan on keeping it a secret though, so stick around) and I've only been at it for a few days.

That's pretty simple, it's just an appearance change and I think I will go ahead and add that to the armband.

I finished with the teleport functions today and everything works perfectly. Even found an area the devs used to test things. Very odd place.

...more to come.

Sweet...when you end up posting these, where do you post them at so I can keep an eye out? that's awesome...I think it would be sweet to go through as Atris as, she was the Jedi in all of the cover art for the both, the magazine ads and on the cover of the game and also happens to be the one character you can't use lol

<xgpu worships voxangel lol>

Hey could you by any chance send the particular file/save/hack necessary that you're using to test? once you have Atris's armband in there?

I've been so busy digging through the game that I haven't even made it all the way through Telos yet (playing the actual game, that is... technically, I've been in every available area in the game though) so I need to get through the game to know what the hell I'm looking at in the files.

I've been able to use some of the new scripting entries, so I can now add any 2nd class I want, or change it anytime I want to - as long as I have a level-up coming. This is also part of the armband. Next thing is appearance and it seems to be handled differently this time, so I'll have to work on it some.

When I actually have some saves to test out, they'll be posted here:

http://home.alltel.net/jls31/saves.html  (there are modded saves for KotOR there right now)

At the moment, my override folder is a total mess, but I should have a couple of things to try out next week (after some serious house cleaning).

The level you can't get to is definitely a test area. Lots of droids, mines, turrets and some really odd shit you'd have to see to believe. Unfortunately, there are no support files for the modules (scripts, dialogs, etc) so it's only partially functional.
I was thinking of using it as an arena of sorts, where you could use the consoles (that are scattered ALL over the place) to spawn different types of opponents... we'll see, that's a lot of scripting.

One interesting thing there... when you open one of the containers, you find a color crystal with your character's name.  :huh:

voxangel, just for curorosities sake can you rewrite the workbench script to look much more like the medical script, ie. throw away the wierd tutorial checks and see if that somehow makes the workbenchs preform better.  I cant figure out how to make script compilers work at all.

something like this...   just a thought since major gripe is the workbench bugginess.

// k_workbench

#include "k_inc_debug"
#include "k_inc_utility"

void main()
{

           ShowUpgradeScreen(GetLastUsedBy( ));

}

never mind.. a little further investigation reveals that the default workbench is handled by a dialog workbench whcih calls k_workbench_bd
and k_workbench_t3 scripts

quite possibly k_workbench_bdm never gets called?

looks like replacing GetFirstPC() with GetLastUsedBy() should fix the problem,  doens t seem possible others havent had this error unles thier dvd had substantially different data than mine did.

// k_workbench_bdm
//
// Through Bao-Dur, the player can break down and create items.
// After Mira has been found, the player can make rockets, too
//
// KDS, 08/15/04

#include "k_inc_debug"
#include "k_inc_utility"

void main()
{
   ShowUpgradeScreen(OBJECT_INVALID, GetLastUsedBy(), FALSE, TRUE, "itemcreatemira");
}

// k_workbench_bd
//
// Through Bao-Dur, the player can break down and create items.
//
// KDS, 08/15/04

#include "k_inc_debug"
#include "k_inc_utility"

void main()
{
   ShowUpgradeScreen(OBJECT_INVALID, GetLastUsedBy(), FALSE, TRUE);
}

I just used the default k_workbench script and changed it as below... it works fine. No rockets (pre-mira), but I made those infinite-use items anyway, so it's no big deal.

#include "k_inc_debug"
#include "k_inc_utility"

void main()
{
           ShowUpgradeScreen(GetLastUsedBy( ) );
}

btw, when using this script, it allows access to all functions of the workbench without having to quit one to get to the others.

When it starts up, you see the upgrade screen... press X, and it goes to the creation screen, press X again and it goes to the breakdown screen. Use B to back out. Doing this, you can switch back and forth easily.

I use the nwnnsscomp compiler, the one that was modified for use with KotOR. The only reason it works for me is that I have the PC version installed and I run the compiler from the root directory.

It works fine as long as I don't try to compile a script with new defines in it. I did modify one of the files in KotOR to allow for some of the new variables, but nothing extensive yet.

I'll upload the armband I'm using in a day or so, I just need to work out a couple of things.

KotOR Savegame Editor v2.2.0 now provides (limited) support for Xbox saves.  See http://www.pcgamemods.com/9170/

(That's KotOR1, not KotOR2, btw)
