Adjusting Character Stats...where?
« on: December 13, 2004, 10:31:00 AM »

Just beat the game on Lightside last night around 4am Lol and now...time for a different approach.  I've seen gamesaves out there that offer higher stats though, noone knows for sure how to sign saves so you can get weapons or, clothes that non-playable characters only wear like Darth N (the guy with the skull mask) or Atris's robe etc...so until then I'd just like to know where to go to adjust your player stats.  I do have it installed on my HD but I figure it's somewhere in the gamesave area.  I've checked partytables.res and global.res as well as saveinfo.res but non of them have the information??

When you have a game like this installed on your HD, you don't need to be messing with saves.

The classes.2da in the 2DA.bif ("dataxbox" folder) is what you're looking for. With KotOR Tool, you can extract the file (or any others) and edit it with a built-in 2da editor. All the beginning stats, as well as the skill point base - and a few other things - are in the classes.2da. Edit them to whatever you want, create an override folder in the KotOR II root folder and drop your edited file into it.

Start a new game, hit Y at the attribute screen and your numbers will be assigned as edited. In fact, the 2da files handle a huge amount of the math and variables that go on in the game. Editing them can do a lot more than just boosting your stats.  <

Do you need to have KOTOR for PC in order to edit the game saves for xbox? <

I don't edit the saves, I edit the actual game files. So, yes, it does help to have some of them on your PC. You don't need the entire game on your computer, just a couple of folders.

dataxbox
rimsxbox
modules

You'll also need to create an override folder in the root directory on the xbox (that's for K2. With K1, you create an override folder in the /TDATA/4c410003/ directory. You didn't mention if you had in on your xbox HD, but just in case)

Otherwise, you'll have to figure out how to resign the saves and that has always proven to be a problem. tk102 has a save editor in progress (for K1) that has limited save editing abilities (at the moment) and hopefully more in the near future. <

I actually don't have a modchip. I'm thinking about putting one in though. Can I edit the game saves without a modchip? I'm kinda new at this stuff. Do you know any, easy to understand, tutorials that I can get some info on this. <

I dont think u can. but im not sure... my advice is to GET A MODCHIP. its DEFFENITALY worth it. when you create the override folder, do you name it "override", and what do u put in it?

I'm sure that there is a way to edit the game files without a modded xbox.  I was able to make some changes to the first game by using an exploit to ftp to my xbox.  Then, I copied the entire KoTOR folder onto my pc's harddrive.  I used the kotor tool with some help from Vox and was able to make a few changes.  I'm hoping that I can do the same thing with KotOR II.  Wish me luck on my unmodded xbox. <
