Gamecube Modchip? Can It Be True?
« Reply #15 on: July 19, 2004, 11:18:00 PM »

There are a handful of GC games that haven't come to the states worth playing... but not much.
Nintendo Puzzle Collection - I play this all the time with my girlfriend, tho the games are all emulatable at least 2 player on the Xbox. It does feature 4 player Panel de Pon tho (Tetris Attack,) so it's nice for that much.
Mr Driller Drill Land - A kickass compilation of different types of Mr. Driller. The music rocks in this, and has some great 4 player modes to boot.
Doshin the Giant - Obscure Populous-style game, playing a big odd giant, and getting the humans below to worship you. Worth looking into, at least.
Past that, it's mostly just getting the jump on releases that's appealing. I dug playing Zelda - 4 Swords, Final Fantasy CC and Wario Ware nearly a half year before domestic release.
Overall, I think import gaming is well enough covered by the easy switch installation and swap disc option. I'm mostly psyched by the idea of possible homebrew creations. While the Xbox covered most bases needed, it might be nice if someone could hijack the N64 emulator used for the recent Zelda 64 rereleases.

you're pathetic if a modchip is the main reason your broke ass needs to get a particular console.  makes me sick.

I'd rather take a modable XBOX than a door-stop Gamecube.

TROLL!

just to throw out my 2 cents bout the rerelease if old nes games on the GBA, just think how many games they could put on one cart for the GBA, even if they put 20-30 games on opne cart and sold it for $30-$40 it would be ALOT better.

as for the cube i think its an awsome machine but it has been collecting dust for a while, i dont think ive played since zelda came out. it needs something like a chip to bring it back to life.

This news about a modchip for gamecube is old news.  This website from these "modders" hasn't been updated in ages.  You can currently stream iso's over your LAN connection using the PSO exploit right now. It's shotty at best but its a step closer to modded gamecube.  It works and I play many games this way on my GC right now.  You can backup any GC game using this technique too.  I can't wait till they come out with a way to read burned GC iso's in the GC System so I can play all these great backups that I have on my PC HD.  If you want to know more about it all you can go here http://forums.afterd...um_view.cfm/112

I have to agree with the guy that said the reason the mod chip hasn't been developed yet is because there aren't enough people interested in the GC.  I love my modded xbox and a GC simply cannot compare with the versatility of a modded xbox, however, I really like a lot of the games that are out and are coming out for the GC so it will be great when something finally happens for all us GC lovers.

It has nothing to do with popularity. The Gamecube, simply put, has the best security out of any console on the market today. The Xbox for one, would not be quite as popular as it is today if a modchip wasn't developed so early in it's lifespan.
