Possible?

is it possible in any way to edit and make a halo disk that i could use in my modded xbox with modded maps on it...the files you edit are cache files but is there any way to burn the disk so i can play it from a disk instead of having the game on my HDD?

Yes there is, I don't know if you are familiar with the concept of NMP. But its making "new" maps permanent maps in its own version of halo, this meaning you have customized maps without editing cache. You can do this by saving map as compressed in SparkEdit V3.02.

The "Halo Modification Kit" (HMK) may become useful to you because it has many things that can help you out with originally editing and then saving it correctly.

Here is basically what you are going to do:
1)Clear all of the cache in X,Y and Z
2)Load up a game of BloodGulch
3)Return to your dashboard (evox possibly)
4)FTP the cache file cache003.map from X Y or Z to your PC
5)Make w/e changes you would like, adding a patch etc.
6)Open the cache file in SparkEdit V3.0.2
7)File>>>Save Map as Compressed
8)Replace the map by using the name of a map that already exists and overwriting the old one with your file. (You can use any name that already exists in the maps folder that is multiplayer, but if do not choose a mulitplayer map or do not choose a map to replace at all this will not work
9)Have fun :D

Also, you can hex edit the version number before you burn it.  This way you never need to clear your cache when switching from modded halo and regular halo.  At the top of each map (including ui) there is a number ending in 2276 (at least for ntsc).  Just change this number to whatever number you want.  Then open the default.xbe and search for 2276...change this to the same number you put on the maps.  There are 5 or 6 times that it is listed in the .xbe.

There ya go.  Now you can have your modded cake and eat it too.  BEWARE though...if you change the version number you will only be able to play system link with other xboxes/halo mods with the same number.

In other words, don't change the version number of NMP and expect to still play it on XLink.

Hope this helps.
