If your xbox is modded, it's extremely easy to change. The easiest way that I've found is xtoolbox app (it goes on your xbox). If it is not there is a game exploit (don't remember where it is, use the search feature).

to change it to regular characters use Return to castle wolfenstein,motogp,DOA, and several others. As for xbox apps xboxtoolboxx is definently the best. If you want your xbox name to be something cool that will make people quit on xbc try this

sortdan: Yes there is a very short length allowed. When ever these characters are used they start from the middle and go right. Byt3Ra!d figured it out long ago and disappeared. Try it and youll see. The name you tried wil not work  because they have to (As Far As I Know) abide by the eleven letter limit to the name
