2 questions.....

When skinning hog do you just grab the skin file for the hog and open it in photshop......?

Can you download photoshop or do you have to buy it and if you do how much does it cost....?

You can get a cut down version of PhotoShop on the CD's that magazines give away, I think, but these may not support the plugins you need. I'm pretty sure that there is a way to do it on PaintShop Pro (correct me if I'm wrong) which is free.

Is there any way to alter these shaders? I was trying to get a more subtle effect than bright neon colours!

Anyways, thanks for the help.

I have not heard of a plugin for changing shaders yet.  Maybe some day after the HPC editor is released. Hopefully sooner!!!

umm, the reason the skins don't look right there chief is because you messed up the mipmaps, or just left them the same as the original image.  The DirectX SDK has a tool that will setup these mipmaps perfectly for you. I can't recall the proper settings for photoshop, if you hell bent on using it just figure it out, it's easier just to use the sdk.  The sdk is freely downloadable from MS.  Basically, set up the mipmaps correctly and everything will be fine.
