Quick Halo Question
« on: November 26, 2003, 06:52:00 AM »

In order to run a modified XBE, it needs to be on the hard drive with a mod chip, or on a dvd you xbox can read. I think...not sure about the latter, sure of the first though.

Quick Halo Question
« Reply #1 on: November 26, 2003, 06:56:00 AM »

my box is soft modded, but i still haven't gotten to the part where i can store the games on the HD. I am considering just getting rid of the soft hack, and chipping it. With Halo 2 coming out, i would like to use XBOX live.
But, can someone confirm of the question above?

Map files are stored in cache on X,Y, and Z I cannot  confirm, but the Xbox would use those files regardless of modding so you should at least be able to edit maps and play them w/ out Halo on the Hardrive, but....  if you wanted to change other files such as the videos or default.xbe you would need it on the Hardrive or burned on a DVD.

uhm, can't you just use a MechAsault hack to get your box to boot into EvoX, and then just FTP to it? No need to mod at all
Once you do, grad the cache files, change them, and load them back. Not sure if it would work cause of signing.

you could.  Would be a pain in the ass, though...and i don't know...Mechassault might overwrite your halo cache.  But yes, if all goes well it would work.
