Xbox Will Not Boot Up

I tried to install a Matrix chip in my xbox and couldnt get it to work properly. Tried many times couldnt get it to work. I then decided to take the chip out and just see if the xbox works. I turn on the xbox and it goes to a screen that says my xbox needs repair to call customer service. Did I fry my motherboard?
