Flamethrower And Gravity Rifle Tutorial
« on: August 07, 2003, 03:06:00 PM »

1) Clear all cache directories on your Xbox (All files in X, Y and Z drives)
2) Load up Halo, and go straight to Blood Gulch
3) When it's done loading, reboot your Xbox and look in the cache directories for a 47MB cache file
4) Copy this file to your computer, open it up in your hex editor
5) Go to offset 0x23428F8
6a) To get the Flamethrower, replace the four bytes 0x14C69080 with 0x3CC2A380
6b) To get the Gravity Rifle, replace the four bytes 0x14C69080 with 0x6492A580
7) Save the file and copy it back to your Xbox
8) Load up Halo, start a multiplayer game of Blood Gulch
9) The shotguns in the map will be replaced by either the Flamethrower, or the Gravity Rifle. Enjoy!

Step 3 - When i looked in my xbox cache i had 3 47 Meg Files when deleted the cache and restarded the xbox

Stem 5 - I looked in all 3 of the files and i looked for 0x23428F8 with search on WinHex search and couldnt find that on all 3 files... It says cant find 0x or somethin... i think i must be doing something wrong, and i dont know how to search Offsets...

:: EDIT ::

How can i search for 0x anyway? it doesnt exist on the side and when i try to search it says A-F and X is after F =P

I've never used win hex but I tinnk that the 0x is just to indicate that it is a hex value.THere might not be the 0x in the winhex program...?

yeah, it just means its in hex form, becauce if the number didnt have ABCDEF in it, you couldnt tell otherwise... (decimal is our primary counting system ofcourse)

its the same with binary, youll see 0000 etc preceding like 001011 even tho it is exactly the same as 1011, its just to indicate its binary....sometimes binary comes in the form 101011(2)...the (2) indicating base 2 system etc.

i think they used to use 0 to indicate octal also, but octal isnt used much anymore since hex is so effeciant. (2 digits to represent byte, 4 bits each)
