tried editing, but apparently i ran out of time...  <_<

**found out it actually was... he just sounds like a very arrogant, nationalistic and predjudice old man... nintendo is long past their prime... they type of kiddie games they do worked great in the 16-bit days and for the handhelds, but as i said, they are just completely out of touch with the modern gamer, whether you find them to be "fat, lazy americans" or whatever... maybe its thier way of trying to "infiltrate" the western culture as the west has over there... by pounding out cutesey rhythm games with bright, shiny colors...

nintendo will always be a huge part of gaming because of its past but, console wise, they are falling off quickly... <

His personality is what I would expect from any extremely successful business man.

Intelligent, self-centered jerk.

You don't get that successful without running people over (funny... exactly what he said).  I'm sure he ate up many passionate game firms to build his own company.  But he'd rather play himself as some kind of game industry saint.

But I do respect his love for the industry and innovation.  Nintento really did take the West by storm with original characters, games, and music that burns through our skulls even now.

He's overly absorbed in his Japan vs. America thing, but I suppose that's to be expected.  It's always been a bit of a rivalry, and Japan has proven itself far more effectively in gaming than America has.  We'll see what the future brings.  The PSP is a hack... and Sony seldom innovates.  They basically took modern components and crammed them into a box with no sense of uniqueness - like he said, remake old PS games.  Same goes for the Xbox.  As a game console, it offers little more than great hardware.  But wonderfully, we all get to enjoy its "hidden" uses.

I found the part about the PSP having the same remade games, oh so many hypocrits. :D
No doubt about it, the man's a genius. I mean, cmon, he wanted the moustache on Mario, you can't get smarter than that! All joking aside, he did have strong points, particulary about Sony, they are still in the past, and afraid of change. They are just now currently changing from the older analog systems to a majority of digital software. Nintendo can't die yet, the DS is on the path of success, and Nintendo is good at jewing people into buying adapters to link thier products.
I can't pull myself to buy any handheld right now, I don't have the need. And as for the next gen consoles, I doubt I'll be getting any of those unless the prices drop to the 150 mark. Guessing Nintendo will be first to get there, but if the games don't raise thier recommended ages, then I just might give up on the console scene all together.

I think the Japanesse mentallity of smaller and quicker vs the Americans bigger and stronger, seen in cars, puts Nintendo ahead in the electronic industry. It allows them to get more out of older hardware, keeping the prices cheaper and making everyone happy.

Should he speak of revolution? Maybe their innovative on their hardware, but you're not a bold man if you make Mario ALL THE TIME. Seriously, I have no idea why they still stick with mario, the kids of today don't have the "passionate" love for Mario as the generation born with Mario in the eighties had. I, who used to love Mario a long time ago, couldn't care the least when Mario turned 3D. And I seriously doubt the kids of today who first played mario on N64 can have any specific relation to him. The man doesn't have the right to talk about revolution. I don't like M$ at all, and M$ may be idiots for making the xbox, but they have to get credits for being bold releasing it.

I generally like Japan (never been there, however), but this guy is crazy to say the least. It's true Japan owned USA in the eighties, and that he could "brag" about if it's important to him, but how can you be so nationalistic? I use to say that many americans are rediculously nationalistic, but this guy takes the prize. He's like the japanese in the southpark episode where they try to brainwash the american kids with Pókemon. It's probably good he's out of the business then. It was funny to read however. <

Haha... I thought about the chinpokemon ("penis pokemon") episode, too... good point :)

It's good this guy is out of the industry, and no, he isn't as bold as he thinks.  His successor who supposedly lacks the "Edge" probably understoods the modern gaming industry much better.

Eww... I had a lot of respect for Nintendo before I read that. What a cocky bastard. I hope the majority of the Japanese don't think that harshly towards the US :/ I personally consider them some of our coolest allies... <

He's kind of a racist bastard but I like the old guy.

We did kinda nuke his country.

Twice.

Telling MS peeps to "suck his tiny yellow balls" is classic.  Funniest stuff ive read in a while.

I have to love his spirit.

He was kind of in Japan when we nuked them, so I'm sure he's a little upset. I love how he actually told Steve Ballmer, in English, to suck his tiny yellow balls. <

If they didn't bomb Pearl Harbor they wouldn't have gotten nuked. They should get over it... <

One of two things happened with Nintendo.

1)  They wandered off of the beaten path.  I think this is painfully obvious with the GCN.  No dev support and not many console eclusives at all.  Almost anything GCN has, you can get on XBOX with much better graphics.  I recently bought a GCN for one thing only.  The new Zelda title coming up.  Maybe the RE series too but mainly Zelda.

2)  Their fanbase grew up.  It's that simple.  They did nothing to market for the new generation of gamers.  They relied on old, outdated concepts and pushed those when everyone wants new and improved.  Nintendo has a lot going for them but one of the reason's they're still alive is cause they're a household name and everyone expects quality from them.

Minh: This article has been verified (by Chris Anderson via Scoble) to be just a parody. Repeat, it's NOT real. I was hoping it were, but it was just too good to be. I'll leave it up for the time being.
