Hot Coffee Help!
« on: August 02, 2005, 07:49:00 PM »

ok so i successfully installed the hot coffee mod and it works great. i started a new game and played up until the VERY last mission without problems.....i decided to boost up my cycling/driving skills via the schools....now im running in to problems.....the first driving school challeng is to do a burn out (Hold L and R and rotate the joystick) L is the break and R is the gas.  i can do a burnout with out a problem but the timer for the mission never starts....after a few minuites of playing around i found that if i hold the A and X buttons volia! the timer starts but its impossible to do a burnout this way because x is the handbreak. Correct me if im wrong but is the main.scm i downloaded for the ps2 version?? the X and A or  X and Square buttons in the ps2 version have the same fuction as the L and R buttons on Xbox. is there any way i can change the controls or port my save to an unmodded game?

I'm also having this problem. I tried removing the modded files but then my save won't load. Is there any way to remove the hot coffee mod from the save file? Also does anyone have any links to the technical details of how the hot coffee mod works? I want to look into this problem more thoroughly...

Dark_Neo, when Adding or Removing a mod you have to replace the main.scm and script file and also you have to delete your game saves.

go0berd0rk, i know i've come across the controls before and its somewhere in the main.scm. It has the controls like it would be for a keyboard. It has stuff like F1, F2, F3, Shift, Enter, etc... But i guess somehow it translates that into xbox controls. Just look in the main.scm, i know its there. Alot of games i've modded seem to have there controls say stuff that would be for a PC but somehow it's translated into xbox controls.

I understand that they aren't compatible, but I just want to try and make it so. Either by removing the mod or changing it so these controls work. Can you give me any information about the scm format? I haven't done any GTA modding before. A few pointers?

Did anyone figure out a fix to this problem yet?  I'm having the same issue.  I've gotten pretty far in the game so I really do not want to have to start all over to get 100%.  If anyone has figured out how to get around the driving school bug please post it.

Thanks!

i just realized that you also have to do the 360 at bike school.... that's really annoying :-(

so, to sum up: boat and flight school work without problems - driving and bike school don't because they both have the 360 as the first mission...

I had exactly the same problem.

After weeks of mucking about in the handling.cfg file I got around it.

Using a suitable ftp prog. open the handling.cfg file in the games data folder and find the 'infernus'.

Toward the end of the line of codes for the infernus you will see C04000.

Change it to C0400045. What this does is somehow give it rear wheel steer and no handbrake like a monster truck.

I'm not sure what else this does to the car but you can atleast go do the 360 in the driving school (keeping the X & A pressed).

As soon as I completed the 360 I saved the game across the road, changed the code back to C04000, restarted and completed the driving school (I made sure I got gold in the 360 so I didn't have to go back).

All the other schools I was able to do although the buttons aren't entirely correct until I got to the Bike school.

Unfortunately the same problem exists for the BF400, trying to do the 360 requires the handbrake to be on.

With the infernus I just copied the last bit of code from the monster truck because although I uderstand HEX, the codes seemed to make no real sense whatsoever and atleast I could complete the 360.

If anyone can figure out the code to turn the handbrake off for the BF400 then I'm sure it would work, I'm trying to do that now.

If, like me, you don't want to muck about with the main.scm, (I can't even open it) then this I believe is a much simpler and easier way around the glitch which allows me to keep playing with the mod installed.

Hope this helps.

hi spinner65, i just tried it out. it does not work here. i did what you said, exchanged the C04000 with C0400045. are you sure that's the correct code?

Ok, with the code installed-

1. Start doing the 360 holding the L & R triggers (keep these pressed till you've finished the 360).

2. At roughly 5 deg off start (pushing the left thumb lever either left or right) press and hold the X & A buttons. Pressing the X & A triggers the timer but letting go also ends the event so keep them pressed.

3. keep the X & A buttons pressed until you have finished the 360.

4. If done well enough you can get gold.

Try this. I hope this works.
