I Wana Put My Own Voice On Vice City!
« on: July 30, 2005, 10:47:00 AM »

Alright this is something ive been wanting to do for along time, and im almost to where i can do it. but the xbox wav files for the game are in some strange codec format, and ive tried everything i even have the xbox codec for windows and all. but i still cant listen to them to know wich ones to record over and replace. BUT the pc versions wav files are all normal wavs.  so what i want to know is if i replace the xbox wavs with those wavs will that work? cuz then i can listen to them and know wich ones to record over.. itd be a really fun project smile.gif

i told u i dont know anything about ogg except that that it is a type of sound file i think...which that should get you started. try to find something that can turn waves into ogg's and the opposite as well.

edit: and idk maybe they just "look" like waves i guess...

I am pretty sure vice city just uses wav and wma files.  I haven't seen any *.ogg files.

It's not OGG, it's WAV files encoded using the xbox wav codec, you can use windows sound recorder to encode your normal wav files to xbox format.

Install the Xbox WAV codec.

Open or record a sound file, click on Save as.. and then click on Change and choose the xbox format, it should be there, click OK and save the file by giving it a name and clicking save.
