You my not realize this but you have a picture in the tutrial that never shows up when you run the IDE KILLER.

According to what you saying to do, and the picture you have posted shows that, there are supposed to be 31 folders and 11 files that show up by running the IDE KILLER.

I have been through this 30 times now and I still have no idea where you got that picture from that shows all these folders and files from.

Unless you missed a step somewhere by accident and didn't realize it.

This is what I did:
I created a folder on my desk top and named it Root Install folder
I FTPed The Data and Models folder from my X-Box into this folder
I placed the IDE KILLER into this folrder and ran it.

You then say to do this:
Delete all folders in 'root install folder'/DATA/MAPS (leave files)
Which means that you open up the folder that you have the Data and Models folders in, and all the folders that the IDE KILLER places there....Delete the folders but leave the files

After you run the IDE KILLER you have 31 folders and 11 files in your Root install folder
But
After I ran the IDE KILLER all I have is:
2 folders (Data and Models) and the IDE KILLER.exe in my Root Install folder
nothing else.

Did you miss something and not realize it?

On top of that the Colleditor doesn't work
I keep getting an error message whenever I try and open it.
Keeps telling me that the dynamic link library could not be found in teh specified path.
I get this error message wheter I put the D3DX81ab.dll
in the system 32 folder or whether I keep in in the same folder as the colleditor.
either way this doesn't work. I know it says that you will get error messages if you try and use this on windos 98 or ME edition but I'm not using either of those and I'm still getting error messages.

I guess this tool just has conflictions with certain things because i have read people ahving problems with this tool on Window XP.
SO I'm going to contact who ever made this tool and tell them that there are way too many people having prblems with it.

OH MY GOD! It isn't that F**King hard! Who cares what's in the picture, whether it show 5 gizillion files are two folders. Just flipping run ide killer from the root install folder it's that simple.

And the Colleditor thing is an issue with Direct3d on some older computers, pm me your email and i'll send you the fixed .col file.

Your missing the point:

I did run the IDE KILLER IN THE Folder I have the Data and Modles folder in

ANd here is the problem I'm running into
After he ran the IDE KILLER he has 31 folders and 11 files in his Root install folder (The picture shows that)
But
After I ran the IDE KILLER all I have is:
2 folders (Data and Models) and the IDE KILLER.exe in my Root Install folder
nothing else.

After running the IDE KILLER he tells you to delete folders (Leave the files)

Well I ran the IDE KILLER and the 31 Folders he is saying to delete never showed up in my Root Install folder.

So where are the folders I need to delete?
He shows the folders that need to be deleted in the picture.

Again those folders never showed up for me.

How do I delete something that isn't there to delete.

of course the folder didn't show up for you. they aren't supposed to. IDE killer doesn't make any folders appear.

he makes it perfectly clear to:
QUOTE

Is it honestly that hard for you to broswe to root install folder, then to data, then to maps, select all the folders (hey look 31 folders and 11 files WHOA!) and press delete ok?

I left the address bar in the pictures so you could see where they were relative to the root install folder. How the hell can you confuse the MAPS folder with the root install folder?

The cause of EVERY single problem you've had so far is that you're not reading things properly. I made sure to put enough detail into this tutorial that I assumed you wouldn't have a problem.

I guess my next tutorial is going to have to have pictures of what keys you should press as well.  <_<

he makes it perfectly clear to:
QUOTE

Ok someone said to forget about the pictures.
So forgetting about the pictures Lets recap here:
Now this is 100% precicely what he telling you to do

1. Create a new folder and name it Root install folder
2. FTP the Data and Models folder form your x-box into the folder you created called Root install folder
3. Place the IDE KILLER.exe in the Folder you created on your desk top called Root Install Folder
___________________________________________________________________
So now you have 1 Folder titled Root install Folder, With 3 Things inside of it
1. 1 Folder from your X-Box VC Directory labeled Data (Folder)
2. 1 Folder from your X-Box VC Directory labeled Models (Folder)
3. 1 program called IDE KILLER.exe
___________________________________________________________________
Next he says to run IDE KILLE
So you open upo the folder you created on your desktop called Root Install Folder
Highlight the IDE KILLER.exe icon that you placed in there and double click it.
____________________________________________________________________

Now once the IDE KILLER is finished running
He says to Delete all folders in 'root install folder'/DATA/MAPS (leave files)

Ok so what I have to do is Rin the IDE KILLER and then once it's finished I open up the Root Install folder and delete the only 2 folders that are in the Root Install Folders I placed in there from the VC directory and leve the IDE KILLER.exe in there.

anyone want to tell me that this isnt 100% exactly what he is saying to do
But if you delete those folders then what is the point to putting them in there to begin with...this doesn't make any sense.... uhh.gif

I'm mean I'll do it but something isn't right here..But I'll trust the guide for now.
and give this the benefit of the doubt

what do you mean something isn't right here. This is like 3rd grade level stuff here c'mon. IDE killer doesn't mka enaything "appear" and his doesn't claim that it does.

YOU have to manually browse to the folder. Jeez!

I did I opened the Root install folder that has the Data/Models in it.

If you did that you will have nothing left in your Root Install folder.

No. He didn't.

If you knew how to READ. It says delete the files in root install folder/data/maps.
that means the maps folder, not root install you retard.
