Problem With The Downloads......
« on: May 13, 2005, 10:03:00 AM »

There is something wrong with the:
Collision File Editor
And
RW Analyze

I have posted the 2 problems below along with possible solutions

____________________________________________________________________
This was copied and pasted directly from the topic it was initially in:

Collision File Editor and D3DX81ab.ddl (put the D3DX81ab.ddl in the directory of the col file editor)
http://people.freene.../colleditor.zip
http://people.freene...-m/d3dx81ab.zip

I followed the picture that Zdemon29958 left and placed everything in the same folder. But when I try and open it, I get this on screen error message:
The dynamic link library d3d8.dll could not be found in the specified path.

And with RW Analyse

http://people.freene...m/rwanalyze.zip

Someone posted having this problem:
QUOTE
anyways besides that I tried to save it in TXD workshop that was all good but when i goto the rwworkshop then when i try to convert to XBOX the thing says that the file is not a dxt1 and is only a 16bit color and has to be a 32 bit or somethign and i went back with another file also and the same thing happened, so its starting to piss me off when i goto do this over and over again. do u have a solution?

And inside the same reply they said this:
QUOTE
oooo i see now, u didnt explain that u had to convert every single item tho  anyways lemme read this and update my reply as much as possible lol

Now this person was correct about both things, becuase I'm having the samething happen to me, and I'm getting the exact same on screen messages as him regardless of how I have compressed the txd, either one at a time, or all at once.

So something is not right here. Here is a list of ideas that may be causing the problem

1. You have to have your computer on a certain setting
2. You need a certain program to get this to work
3. The stuff needs to place this stuff in a certain place on your computer
4. Do you need to name the folder this stuff is in a certain name
5. Does this stuff need to be done in a certain order
6. The downloads are getting corrupted somehow

I'm just throwing out ideas because I can't get this stuff to work and because of this problem I can't use any of the mods on the system
_____________________________________________
I have an idea would solve the part or all of the problem (Try this):
If someone that has this stuff working, just zips the folder that already has anything in it and e-mail it to people intact. Taking a working copy of this and giving it to someone in that fasion would solve part or all of the problem. Because if it worked when you gave it to them, and then it doesn't work after they got it, then that means something is wrong with that persons system, However if thier is nothing wrong with that persons sytem, then that would mean the files are somehow getting corrupted in either the upload or download.

I don't know what's going on here but could someone please look into this and let me know what's going on.

Thanks in advance! smile.gif

Must you be a smart ass?

Did you read anything I said?

I can follow the guide just fine....It's the programs themselves that aren't working properly.

And on top of that, 2 people have had the same exact thing happen to them. I highly doubt that it has anything to do with the guide.

Just to add this:
In the guide on that link you provided above when you get to this part is where the problem comes from:

5. Press control+t, and press yes

When I press yes it gives me this warning:
when i goto the rwworkshop then when i try to convert to XBOX the thing says that the file is not a dxt1 and is only a 16bit color and has to be a 32 bit or somethign like it.

But according to this gudie and you it should say this:
6. It will say it successfully converted X of X textures, blahblahblah(if not, make sure ALL textures are compressed to DXT1 or DXT3). Press ok

I blatently said this in my topic but you said you learned fromt he guide. Well you can't learn from the guide if the program isn't going to allow you to do what the guide says it should be doing
