I Added Some Map Mods
« on: June 18, 2004, 02:41:00 PM »

None of the next 3 worked. I tried them each individually, and each one made the game freeze at the loading screen.

So right now I have in there:
2 new bridges
Extra places in Little Haiti
Thunder Dome which is a big sphere cage fro motorcycles to driver around. Its fun.

Maybe some other time I'll try others. I am sick of this for today now.

From the massive thread.

I downloaded some skins that are only BMPs. Anyone know what i can use to convert them to TXDs and DFFs so i can put them in?

Use TXD Workshop to convert them to TXDs.  If the skin u want to use didn't come with a DFF then its probably using an existing dff in the archive, so the bmp files you have probably correspond to a player model in the archive, look to see which one it replaces.  Here's where it might be a little difficult.  Once you find the dff, you need to get the original txd for it to open up in TXD workshop.  I dunno if thats supported yet for xbox txds, but if you have the pc version of VC (or gta3), then pull the txd from there and open it up in TXD workshop.  Select the texture to replace, hit import and select the bmp you downloaded.  Save the txd, that should work.

Which is why I said I wasn't sure if xbox txds would open up in the latest version of TXD Workshop, and if they don't, you'd have to get the txd from the pc version of the game.

Why dont you try this on the Xbox version mister robot icon!?

Uh....okay, good one???

please report back with your error!!
get this working..

I'd love to report back, but I got NO error.  Why did I NOT get an error, because I got it WORKING.

and host the txd and dff 4 me while your at it..

Nah, why go through all that trouble for you when all you're being is a little prick.  But I'll do you one better.  I'll give you step by step instructions on how to get this working.  If you can't manage to get it to work, then it just shows me that not only are you a prick, but a stupid one at that.

-Open TXD Workshop (i used ver 3.1)
-File -> New
-In the box that pops up, select 32 bpp
-Hit import, select the Tony Montana bmp file
-Open up the Properties window
-Change the name field to 'player9' (no spaces)
-Hit okay
-Now do the normal routine to get it xbox compatible, compress & select VC XBOX
-save the txd as 'player9.txd'
-delete the original player9.txd from the img file, add the new one, rebuild, upload back to box, delete FINAL file, yadda yadda
-change Tommy into the Mr. Vercetti outfit, its the store somewhat near the Pole Position club

Now if you do manage to get it to work, then bravo for you.  Hopefully, you'll learn to keep ur little smart ass comments to urself and try figuring things out before u run off at the mouth.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to try it. I am going to turn Tommy instreet clothes into Blade. Then hopefully change the poilce into a differnt guy with a blue uniform.

Well i got the Blade sking to go in. It looks dumb though, so I took it out. I put in the new cop one without doing anything for the DFF just to see. They came at me and were just all white with guns.

I thought you were an angry drunk or joking. So I didn't say anything, I can tell from all the other posts that you are not some jerk who comes on to fight. We both know that there are people like that on all forums.

Tomorrow, well today, I am going to be out to see my grandfather since its fathersday. Tuesday i will be at a relative I have not seen in years. So probably tonight or monday I am going to download some more map mods to try out. I'll just read on what to do and do conversions. Then wednesday i'll try to put them in. I saw another guy who got some more in, so I have high hopes.

I just wish i could see some pattern as to why 4 worked and 3 failed. the bridges I see working because they were basically nothing. By the way, i found one or 2 more bridges that they added, I guess I missed them. They don't show on the map though.

I wanted to try to edit the cars and planes more. I downloaded car Stat Editor, and its great. i can actually see what value belongs to what category. I set my BF Injector and warthog to be even crazier. They go like triple normal speed without my speed boost button. I have the top acceleration at like 260, and engine acceleration at 60, which means it gets to its top speed quickly. It was just hard getting a good setting for the brakes. I had to set it like quadruple the normal amount.

I also made some adjustements to my motorcycles. I had them so fast, and the brakes so high that when I slammed on thebrakes, the things would flip forward and I'd fall off.

There is one setting that sets the amount a car will be sumerged in water. if you set it to a negative number, it goes all the way under. That added with the extreme weight makes cars sink all the way down, then show back up on land. I set my UFO and other helicopters to a negative number too, and now I can fly down, under the water and under the whole land. I can take shortcuts underneath it all and come out of the water on the other side of the map.

OK, I made time and tried a few more map mods. They were; funpark, fun beach and cruch test road.

Only fun beach worked. All it required was for me to replace 4 ,ap folders. It made no changes to anything except a big part of washington beach. It added several Billboard rapms like the one near the airport terminal. Also it added loops, a few. So I got up speed, and rode my car and motorcycles around them. i thought once upside down I would fall off, i didn't though. its fun. i had to move my thunder dome though.
