i think they use modchips in the refurb process, so.... i mean there's lpc points and all, i dont think they'd have them there unless it was used during mfg or rfb process

I doubt bill personally has a mod, but im sure MS has purchased them to improve their anti-piracy tactics.

Signatures do get copied over, but a HD signature (e.g. MS dash) is different from a pressed DVD signature which is different from a DVD-R signature (if one exists) and so on, even if the XBE is otherwise identical

Your saying that MS sumhow made an xbox without a modchip, and then, modchips were made so m$ decided to start refurbing them using modchips???
Modchips us the LPC because the LPC is a development port that M$ use to develop the xbox and to check everything is ok wiv the xbox, it is a port used by m$, not just by modchips so that m$ can refurb boxes....

he's close... the lpc port is used during the final stages of manufacturing to load an alternate firmware that does a check on the Xbox using its own CPU... that way M$ doesn't need expensive testing machine...
