Halo 2 Maps

so i have no idea where to put this since the halo 2 forums is down.  I just wanted to know, can I delete all the maps from the 1 player mode and it would still work?  All i want to use Halo 2 on my xbox is for multiplayer stuff.  I can just put in the disc if I really wanted to play 1 player.. And I only have the original HD, so it takes up 99% of it lol.
