any progress with this?
Looks like people gave up. I finally got my hands on a copy of MAT2 and bought in hopes of finding that the games on the disc were just MAME zips fed through a different emulator. That would have made things quite simple, but noooo...they're .SRs.
Replacing MK3 on the disc would be possible though, it just takes more work. With the original X-Box scene dying down, I don't think anyone would still be interested in doing this, but in the long run it would definitely solve the inability to play an arcade-perfect UMK3 on the X-Box (with sound, that is). I expected MK2 to run a lot more poorly than it does. I played it for hours tonight. Not really any slowdown, just tinny sound effects and glitchy shadows. Not a big deal, the gameplay's perfect. I didn't mess around with MK3 much.
Anyway, I think we should get on this. I'm willing to help, but I don't have the knowhow to edit .xbe files and that is a necessity. I'm pretty sure it requires the XDK, right? If you can edit them without it, let me know...or at least tell me where to get it.
