Afs Extraction Problem
« on: June 23, 2006, 08:05:00 PM »

I have a problem. I get the AFS file off my *legal* backup. When I go to extract it using AFSEXPLORER (any version) or MiteeXPR, I can't extract them. I have this problem with DOA Ultimate and SCII. When I do manage to get them to load up, I can't extract anything from the XPR files I got out of the AFS files. Does anyone know how to help me?

use a newer version of afsexplorer..
GX would be your best bet all around if you can find it or ninjatoolbox

no matter how deep you look, the usual place won't have the tools for handling AFS files
DOAU has an encrypted files inside their AFS's, but AFS Explorer 3.7 or higher should read it fine(like open the afs). they'll be an error cause tecmo left place holders in the AFS, but don't update if promted the file structure is critical. for modding purposes you'll need greedxplorer or ninjatoolbox1.3. search google them or email me, "mario_kart64n(AT)hotmail(DOT)com"

but SC2.. it doesn't use the AFS archive format if i recall. it uses OLK, which cypher made an extracting prog for.

yeah not much of help though for extracting purposes. you sometimes need to pull the pkg files out, GX isn't the best, its more a viewr then a mass extractor.

I found them both. For Soul Calibur, you'll need SC2Tools, which are handed out by a guy that Tecmo allows to edit the game?? For DOA, go to the old DOA Modding site. The Freewebspace one I believe, if it's important, I'll post the links.

D. SC2Tools? is that a pack or...
E. whats up with your sig, i'm no pro in paint shop, but at least i had fun dicking around, and got something colourful

I'm glad you like my sig happy.gif. Here, I'll clear a few things up for you...

A: I didn't answer my question. I still can't extract AFS files with miteexpr!
B: "Permission to modify Soul Calibur 2 for the Xbox was granted very graciously by Namco.  We thank Namco for giving this permission."
C: It still has many of the needed files to modify Dead or Alive. Ninjatools being one of them.
D: SC2Tools contains EVERYTHING you need to modify the textures in Soul Calibur 2.
E: My sig...was very tedious...happy.gif. Like I stated though, I can't take requests.

you are confusing me man  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

SC2Tools contains EVERYTHING

I highly doubt this. maybe, but your tools must be highly outdated.

Ninjatoolbox dropped doa support, after version 1.5 its now up to 1.6+

this person you speak of sorta sounds like Hikaru, but if you don't mind could you post a link, he muast have a new forum.

i know nacmo has granted primission on other forusm b4. example Soul-Xplorer.net (now defunct)

I'm not trying to confuse you, I'll clear some things up.

SC2TOOLS contains pretty much everything you need to edit the textures (possibly models) in Soul Calibur 2. It also has tools that allow you to add a new skin to the game instead of overwriting an old one. It has a very good tutorial in it for skinning too. This and a TON of skins can be found at, "http://members.cox.net/drewcat23/index.htm." Yes, they are Soul Explorer.

The website is not a freewebs site. It is a freewebtown site. The last time I checked, it had Ninjatoolbox v1.4a, BossAFS v1.2.2.0, NinjaAFS v1.30, and AFS Explorer v3.6.

ha.

thats kinda funny to me, all the stuff you talk about happened awhile ago, Drewcat doesn't even skin no more, yet he's redated the site for 2006, when SoulXplorer disappeared 05. drewcat does not have exclusive rights to mod sc2, and sc2tools are outdated.

h**p://www.freewebtown.com/***SEED

was a doa site i made a while ago, you can see in the top frame, some lnks link you to my forum, and my blog. the tools i left there are about as old as the ones you get in sc2tools.

it would be nice though if somebody could start a new sc2 skinning site/board. right now you can prolly find the old soulxplorer crew at the new NZ forums, there still waiting on a new nacmo primmision letter before they start hardcore hacking sc2 again, not to mention the beginning of sc3

i think there is going to be some activity at NZ soon....at least hopefully.

Dracolacerate and cypher are getting into SC3 i guess.

Intruder and Ubahs are starting up another project that looks interesting also.
