It would'n be easy just to buy one pack of songs just to see how the download content is accesed through? I agree that the e: UDATA and TDATA files play a huge role. If it is true that if you already LEGALLY download songs for the first Karaoke Revolution, those songs will appear at Party, then...we can use the first Karaoke Revolution save to access pretty much the 70% pf the locked songs, hence....advancing towards the file accesing.

Just an idea.

I assume it is the "data" file with no extentsion in the UDATA save folder of KRP that gets altered, or are there seperate folders in UDATA and TDATA for live content? I think i'll rent a copy of the 1st KR today just to check out the differences in the game. If I stumble across anything I'll let you know. More likely I'll just stumble down the stairs on the way out but hey, theres nothing like stumbling once a day ;).

What if you had a backup of the appropriate file prior to unlocking a song within the game by getting awarded it and compared it to a file after being awarded an unlockable song. Would that shed any light on it?

I don't know if I found out something new but the .hdr file contains the filesizes of the .ark files (after byte 12). First Filesize is 0D 65 A6 05 which is the size of main_o.ark (94.790.925).  The next 4 Bytes contain the filesize of main_1.ark (8A 41 E9 05 = 99.172.746). Because of the litte endian byte order, you have to swap the bytes around ( if you convert 94.790.925 to HEX it's 05 A6 65 0D). Hope that I could help.

Im seriously thinking in asking someone with an unmodded/lived console to download the 80 Bucks song pack for this game (yeah, Im a big fan). But, does anybody knows if once downloaded, the files could be transfered via Memory Pack? It would be a pain if the files are checked so only can be played in the downloading console.

I want to play all the songs so badly!!!!!!!!

Peace

I'd be happy to donate to this cause! This definitely reminds me of the last release of the Live Songs. Even though it was later released for free... I still don't regret donating to help out.

Looking at the hex dump from MAIN.HDR it lists a file "UNLOCKED.DTB";  is there any way to get to that file?  Possibly edit it?   It might only be the in-game unlockables, but could be worth a shot. If only everything wasn't compressed

...unlockables refers to new songs, trophies, clothes, characters and the video you unlock in the game.

moreover, if we could access that file, we wouldn't be having the hassles we're having now.

to all people new to this forum, or posting in this section for the first time --- DO NOT ask people to send you things.  DO NOT ask for "live update" packs that we do not have, and do not exist.  Your ignorance could lock this thread, which would result in a lot of frustration and a lot less heads crunching ideas.

Sorry for the night of nagging .. I have a midterm in the morning, and have been concentrating more on this than on university, and if the thread gets shut down due to some silly comment, i'll be a little more than frustrated.

What is downloaded when you buy the packs from Live though? An ark file as well? BTW, has someone figured out a way to resign DLC for use with different HDD keys? I know they did for Halo 2 and some other games, but is that specific to that game, or does it work with all DLC?

Does anyone else think that the .ark extension is a red-herring?  I don't think that is the same .ark as unark, pkxarc, etc.   It could be something completely different.

Does anyone know how to fix the checksum on the save files.  That seems like it might be a fruitful avenue.  I hope The Joeba comes back, he had a lot figured out.

the ark extension isn't a red-herrying we are aware that its not  the same as the motogp unark command but UTF is working on a way to use the header file to extract the files

I have been talking with Joeba and we are trying to figure it out whats going on with the game don't worry

if you know anything about hacking/patching the xbe would you take a look to see if there are any calls that might look for a signature or compare a hash?

I looked myself but I only started xbe hacking/patching yesterday so I dont know a lot. I took somethign out but a call to a dir on the e drive I think and the game still worked fine afterwards

I assume you looked at this thread? Is  there "f3 a6 74 2d 8b 44 24 10 50 e8" anywhere in KRP's default.xbe? I don't have it here, so I'll check later.

I checked for the first value and I couldn't find it. However

changing the string c0 f3 a7 74 04 6a 05 eb af to c0 f3 a7 /eb/ 04 6a 05 eb af disables the header check on contentmeta.xbx . With this modification, PGR2 will attempt to verify downloadable content from another xbox. (Without it, it ignores foreign content completely).

I did a quick search and I did find that string in default.xbe perhaps this will help. I'll give it a try when I get home
