Ford Aspire?
« on: December 10, 2005, 02:07:00 AM »

Anyone know anything about this compact econo car?  Some of you may be wondering why I am looking at a little econobox when I was so set on a '94-'97 Z-28.  Here is the story:  About a month ago, I had to go into the Hospital and get an operation on an abcessed appendix, needless to say that the car fund has gone down the drain and my current RX-7 is going through one problem after another.  So I have decided to try and get a small fuel efficient/low maintenence economy car in the meantime until I can save up enough money to buy a Z-28/TransAM sometime next year.  Anyways, I found a pretty well maintained one in my area and I just wanted to know if the Aspire is a decent vehicle.  The one I am looking at is a '96 2 door BTW.

firend of mine used to have a 96 2 door aspire, its a good car, he even found a turbo kit for it (a month after he sold it, lol)

one thing ill say make sure it has power steering (did aspires ever have PS?) it might be the size of a matchbox car but its a bitch to turn from a stop, or maybe im just lazy

id say spend a little more and get yourself an escort or cavalier, something half a step up or so, but thats just me

From a MPG thing it may be a decent little car. I was looking at a Suzuki Swift for that reason. Sadly it was only an ATX, which kind of blew. But a little car like that's a great choice if you want to stay cheap. If I could find one cheap enough Id be all over it.

Uh oh.  I just contacted a guy about a 4 door one that he had in the low $2K range and all was great but then he told me that Ford outsourced the production of the Aspire to Kia, so the car is nothing more than a relabeled Kia, FUCK THAT!!!!!!!!!!!

Any other suggestions for decent econo-cars folks.  Keep in mind I am looking for something low maintenence.  I don't know that an older Ford Escort would be low maintenence.  If the focus were a few years older, I would go with a ZX-3.

I may not be a car expert but I learned that one already. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)  My ex-GF had one and that SOB was always in the shop, not to mention the fact that I think the Geo Metro has more structural integrity than the Cavalier.  You could sneeze on a cavalier and have the body dent.   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Yeah my grandmother bought a Cavalier its not even at 100,000 miles and its need its thrid engine. Not to mention the millions of other things that have gone wrong with it. She just didnt understand that was a reason Cavaliers are so cheap.
