83 Camaro
« on: August 02, 2005, 11:57:00 PM »

Alright so I bought my first car for 500$.  83 Z-28 camaro with crossfire injection, T-tops, fiberglass hood, yada yada. The guy just put a brand new transmission in it last summer and hasnt drove it since. I think i got a good deal since the hood is worth a couple hundred itself, plus the T tops are in perfect shape alone with all the windows except the front windsheild. The front end is nice and tight, theres no slop when turning the wheel at all. Well first I had to replace motor mounts because one was broken. Heres a list of things to come..

Weather seals on whole car
New front windsheild
New air shocks for hood and hatch
New headliner
Need a Z-28 steering wheel since its got a Berlinetta (sp?)
Putting in some bucket seats (anyone know how to dye the seats a different color?)
Need some new sun visors
Need new right mirror
And last but for sure not least need to undercoat the car before snow.

With all that out of the way anyone else have any suggestions of what I should do next? Not really looking to make the car look real fancy or anything. Pretty much just want a stock look but I want the car to be mechanically perfect. Any ideas/tips/comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Definitely go to the 350 as it is a better engine overall (ie more durable, very easy to find parts, re-built engines, ect for reasonable rates).

Thanks guys. Anyone know where to get a kit with all of the rubber trim that goes around the T tops, side windows and back window for a decent price online?

I disagree. When you need an engine go 350. But the hp gains youd see from that swap could just as easily be gained with headers and an exhaust and have it be a hell of alot easier. Sweet car though. I'm loving all the Z28s on this board. Join www.z28.com if you want another VERY friendly and helpful forum. By far the most friendly site Ive been on.

Yeah , but the sound from a 350 is much nicer than a 305.(Sound is important to me)

I don't think i would put in a 350 just for sound. heh. The car already sounds badass. I was just messing around with some stuff today and realized the exhaust on it cant be more than a year old. Damn I really got a good deal on this car.

350 is a good motor... I had a 350 in my nova for three years... and it's done me well.

But I dropped in a 383 about two months ago.... ehehehehehe.
