Jade Empire Disc 2
« on: April 13, 2005, 03:10:00 PM »

I bought Jade Empire LE yesterday and I haven't been able to use the bonus disk on my modded (software, not Hardware, so I can't just turn the mod off) xbox.

When I try to run it, I just get an error message saying my xbox needs service, error code 21.

I've tried using different dashboards (evox, xbmc, Avalaunch) all to no avail.

Anyone solved this one yet?

Thanx.

PS: I created this new thread because the one already addressing this issue is filled with inane chatter and nothing actually related to the issue.

on the jade empire forums it says to
Load the first DVD.. when it gets to menu load in the 2nd DVD.. then  you will get an option to load optional data.  BUT when I hit eject on the first DVD my system reboots.

I guess we need someone to find what info that has the optional info and find where to save that in the Jade empire regular folder to play with the bonus weapon and character.

when you say that your system reboots, is this running mod on, or mod off.  both?

These are the instructions from the jade empire forum (jade.bioware.com)

1.) Place the Jade Empire Game Disk into your Xbox and power it up.

2.) Allow the game to run until the Main Menu appears.
(This creates the required drive on your Xbox for the bonus content.)

3.) Remove the Game disc and place the Limited Edition Bonus Content Disk into your Xbox.

4.) Place the Limited Edition Bonus Content Disk into your Xbox.

5.) Select "Monk Zeng Content" which is the first option available in the menu.

6.) Press the "A" button on your Xbox controller to unlock the Monk Zeng character and his Monk Spade fighting Style.

7.) Remove the Limited Edition Bonus Content Disk from your Xbox.

8.) Place the Jade Empire game disk in your Xbox and restart it.

9.) Monk Zeng will now be available via the "Character Selection" screen when you start a new game.

I was able to bypass the problem of my xbox rebooting by running the game from evox, and then swapping the discs (as opposed to simply starting by putting disc 1 in the box and turning it on).  This didn't give me access to any "Monk Zeng Content" option like it said it should though, and when I select any menu option, it says the disc is dirty or damaged and hangs.

Still screwed... anyone having any luck?

Also, if anyone finds a working hacked default.xbe, please let us know!

I had the same problem when trying to use disc 2, but I haven't had a chance to try what you suggested.

Still, I also want to play/watch the extra content (Conker, Forza, etc) in addition to using the monk in JE.  Does anyone know how to do that?

Playing the extra content is easy, just use a filebrowser like boxplorer, and then browse to those folders and run the default.xbe file.  As for the videos, I dunno.

you can also try it with your mod off.

if your getting a system reboot when you eject then your bios may be set to do so, and you'd have to change/alter your bios.

suggestion from jadeempire site
QUOTE
1. Insert the bonus disk.
2. Let it error. It may even FRAG (flash red and green).
3. Power off the xbox.
4. Turn it back on with the disk still in it.

Oh. Do not power on the xbox for the first time using the eject button.
